SAN DIEGO -- OK, probably needs its own post.
McBeth and Moeller up, Livingston and Keppinger down.
The move means Valentin will be used primarily as a pinch hitter, not as a catcher. Jerry Narron said Ross and Moeller would do the bulk of the catching.
And I just wrote this on the last post, but will repeat it here:
Postgame: Talked to Krivsky after everyone cleared out of the clubhouse.
"There won't be any panic, either," Krivsky said. "We've played how many games? 39?"
"We're using all our people, scouts, player development people, everyone has input on every decision I make," Krivsky said. "The people who have knowledge of the players are going to have input. Terry Reynolds, Ted Power, Rick Sweet, Mack Jenkins all had input on Marcus McBeth, and the guys had input on what catcher to call up."
"We're utilizing our people, that's how we're going to make good decisions, using our people. We're doing everything we can to win games."
Krivsky reiterated that firing Jerry Narron was "not on my radar"
Also, thought this was strong from Hatteberg:
"You try to pick each other up, and you try to unify and keep the thing afloat," Hatteberg said. "You've got to take losing personal, and I don't know if we're doing that. You've really got to hate it."

Slumping Reds lose again
Padres 7, Reds 1
BY KEVIN KELLY | [email protected]
SAN DIEGO ? In his debut with the Dodgers last season, Greg Maddux had a no-hitter going against the Reds before rain washed away the opportunity.
Now with the Padres, the veteran pitcher helped his new team to a 7-1 victory Monday night by tossing a complete game against the Reds before 20,262 fans at PETCO Park.
?It?s demoralizing,? Reds first baseman Scott Hatteberg said. ?You feel bad about yourself as is. Then you go in and face him. You could be on top of the world and he would bring you back to earth.
?It?s just fuel on the fire for us right now. A tough one.?

Doc: Buck stops with Narron
BY PAUL DAUGHERTY | [email protected]
From 60 feet, 6 inches, Greg Maddux still can throw an 86 mile-an-hour fastball that hits the head of a pin. His show against the Reds on Monday night was straight out of 1995. But c?mon. Maddux?s ERA last year was 4.61. His record since 2005 is 31-31. He?s 41 years old.
Maddux?s utter domination of Cincinnati?s hitters Monday night had as much to do with the Reds as it did with Maddux. About the only thing Reds batters didn?t do was bring white flags to the plate and wave them.
It?s not that the Reds are losing. It?s how. With every loss, a little life leaves them.
