Reds Tidbits (2007 Season)

Goin' to the game tonight, gonna get one of those Marty & Thom bobbleheads. :banger:

We'll see the the Reds' (my) winning ways continue.

Meanwhile, I'm gonna make sure we pick up tickets tonight for the series against the Cubs at the end of September. I get the feeling their inevitable choke job will occur in whole or part during that series, and I wanna be on hand to see all the sad, sad faces of the Cubs' fans.

You should have offered to pick up an extra, for JaxBuck. I'm sure he could have neatly placed it underneath his tire in the morning and promptly backed over it on his way to work.

Reds up 4-2 after 5 1/2, but clearly their desire to remain in the lead is in question, as Mike Stanton has made yet another appearance.

Lastly, the Texas Rangers put a 30 spot on Baltimore tonight on 29 hits. Oddly enough, in 5 separate innings they failed to even score a run. 5 in the 4th, 9 in the 6th, 10 in the 8th, and 6 in the 9th. Wow. Just wow. 7 RBI each from Saltalamacchia and Ramon Vazquez. This has to make the Reds pitching staff feel a little better, no? Just playin'....

Much more PG-13 than what I had in mind.:wink2:

Gah! Chris Welsh just spewed some bullshit about how Mackanin should be hesitant to pull Stanton, an 18-year vet, in favor of Bray to face Brian McCann. This is the kind of absolute bullshit tripe that pisses me off. We have to watch Stanton (who accidently retired McCann) get bombed on a semi-regular basis because he's an 18 year vet? Fuck that shit! Maybe Stanton should try getting a damned out every once in awhile. 5.30 fuckin' ERA. He has no room to bitch when his fat ass gets pulled from a game. :pissed:

The vet man love is systemic of the entire organization.

I believe in karma and because of that I often wonder, based on its media, 65% of its fans and its FO, if Cincy doesn't have exactly the MLB team it deserves.

I always seem to end up there when Arroyo or Belisle is on the mound. I've only been to one Harang start this year. I don't know what it is - I only started keeping track of this stuff last year when me and my girlfriend started going on dates at the ballpark. She's the one that bought me the FlexPack for tickets this year. I can't remember the exact number, but I know that my first Reds game was against the Padres in 1990, and the Reds never lost a game I attended until the dropped one to the Indians sometime in the late '90s I think it was something like the first 14 Reds games that I went to through the 90s that they won...

BTW, Arroyo has been pitching well in the second half for the most part, but he needs to figure out how to settle down and be more efficient in the first couple innings. The umps weren't doing him any favors on ball/strike calls, but still, he took 30 pitches just to get through the first inning.

Also, something cool I saw tonight - some kid down the right field line caught two foul balls in the same inning.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

CINCINNATI -- David Weathers turned in the direction of Mike Stanton's locker last night in the Reds' clubhouse and put one man's unhappy season in the Cincinnati bullpen into perspective.

"He just has had buzzard's luck -- guys hitting the ball off the end of the bat or right down the line all year," Weathers said. "He never complains, and he's always there.
"A lot of guys will take two weeks off and say their arm bothers them. Me and him both have never done that. You stand up and take your beating like a man and go on."
The two veteran relief pitchers played integral parts in a 4-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves in Great American Ball Park. Stanton worked 1 2/3 shutout innings in relief of Bronson Arroyo (7-13) on an evening steamy enough to turn a butter cow into a butter pool.

Continued......

Adam Dunn just absolutely SMOKED one up into the deep depths of right-center field to win the game 9-7 over the Braves in 12 innings. That makes the season series REDS 6 BRAVES 1. I wish I knew what the hell the potion was, but it's a far cry from being 13 games under .500. It was a no doubter, and yet what are we, still 9 games out? Good Lord willing, football season can't get here soon enough, I need to quit paying attention to this shiznit....

For shits and giggles.....

"...and this one belongs to the Reds!"
