Top of order strong despite solid Reds start

Vladimir Guerrero came into Wednesday's game 0-for-his last 13.
The Reds did not view that as an invitation to tempt fate; it just worked out that way in a 6-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels before a crowd of 29,655 on a delightful night at Great American Ball Park.
"You can't bring Vladimir Guerrero up with guys on base all night long," Reds manager Jerry Narron said. "That's asking for trouble."
Reds starter Kyle Lohse knew that, but he just couldn't help himself. Leadoff man Chone Figgins went 2-for-4 with a walk, and No. 2 hitter Orlando Cabrera went 3-for-4.

After his first big league start, Homer Bailey was given a homework assignment:
Pitching coach Dick Pole had Bailey chart his own game.
"That's something he's probably never had to do before," Reds manager Jerry Narron said.
That was the case. The exercise mostly reinforced what Bailey suspected.
"Most of the stuff I saw I kind of felt I was doing," he said. "But now. I know what it looked like."
