I hate seafood, but was convinced to have a bite of Mahi Mahi at RJ Snappers the other day and actually liked it...no fishy flavor at all. Maybe there's hope...

Give crab cakes a chance in Maryland.

I also like good seafood, and I haven't been to a Red Lobster in years, despite having one just a mile away.

You know it's weird, a couple of posters have mentioned Florida when it comes to seafood. I've lived on both coasts and spent my summers growing up in Maine and I've always found the seafood available in FL to typically be at the bottom of the barrel.

Lobster pounds are probably one of the ten greatest things man has ever created.

I would have to agree with you. Usually seafood caught in colder water is of higher quality.

Not sure why, but that's usually the case.

Cold water is less parasites, generally more fatty and that gives the meat more flavor.

I went to school in Bath Maine and remember stopping at some County fairs on trips in the fall and spring. In Ohio they have corn and elephant ears. In Maine they have fresh Oysters and lobster.

If you ever fly through the Portland Airport, get a lobster roll. They are the BOMB!

As odd as it sounds I don't trust Red Lobster because they advertise to much, same with Applebee's ( I'll got their but usually get something fried since you can't really fuck that up.)

To Me a good resturnat doesn't need to have constant commericals on tv, you find ways like magazines and newspaper's and then rely allot on positive reviews not tag lines and gimmicks to get people in the door.

Ahh, I forgot to mention I also like crab cakes and clam chowder.

I can only eat fish at very nice restaurants and it has to be very mild. I am working on trying to develop a taste for fish, and living in Baltimore can't hurt :)

I'll be flying into there in June actually and I'll take your advice.

Don't know if Portland is your termination point, but if you are only going to be there a couple of hours hop in a cab and head down to the Old Town area and the docks. Then just wander into one of the little taverns on the water to get some steamers and a beer.

Also, grab an Italian Sandwich for me while you are at it. If the Quality Shop in Portland is closed head to Sam's in Lewiston.
