Recruits Announcing "Signing Week" 2005

what's most interesting with this list... is that many of them have signed with the schools they were linked to 4 months ago... then all the shaking and baking and juking and hype... and at the end, they're right back where they were before all that stuff... including Gwaltney

I think you would be hard pressed to find a team having a worse day than Texas. I think it is funny that for their siging day coverage on Rivals, the UT people are using the title "Men of Their Word". Anyways, in the last few weeks they lost out on, among others, Ryan Perilloux, Martellus Bennet, Derek Nicholson, and Fred Rouse. The meltdown going on on the UT message boards is monumental...everything from bad-mouthing recruits to ripping visiting fans. Classic...

Brian Roche of Don Boscoe chose Louisville over ND.

Brandon La Fell to LSU.

CBA (home of Greg Paulus) WR Bruce Williams decommited from Rutgers and signed with Syracuse.

Chris Mulvanny to Oregon (along with getting Snoop, this has quietly been a great day for the Ducks).

Steven Korte to LSU (big day for LSU).

FSU and USC, as usual, finished strong today, but Oregon, Ole Miss, and LSU all had great days too. Texas's Signing Day blew Longhorn.

Also, Wisconsin got a verbal from the #1 junior in-state today. 6-7 275 OL Jake Bscherer. Chris Pool is calling it the equivalent of Alex Boone commiting so early to the Buckeyes.

A few others I posted directly in their threads...

Neefy Moffet to FSU.

Zac Hennis officially signed with Kentucky.

Willie Young is once again headed to NC State.

Brandon Summers to Toledo.

The kid (RP) is being toasted on Longhorn boards everywhere. His website is being bombarded with e-hatemail and many have told him they hope he literally "breaks a leg" while there. Word of his reversal of his 100%, "my word is my bond" commitment to Texas sprouted up on Monday when Martellis Bennett, a 6'7" stud tight end from a Houston area school chose TAMU over UT because he could also start on their basketball team as a frosh. He said RP had been recruiting him for weeks to come to LSU, all while telling the UT coaches he (RP) was coming to Austin. Bennett finally commited when RP text messaged him that it was LSU for sure. USA Today has a story where RP has already said he is better than any QB LSU currently has and he should be the starter.

Perrilioux's parents pressured him to stay in LA because they are too poor to make it over to Austin while the kid tools around the state in an '05 Navigator. As a high schooler he was permitted to drive to away games rather than having to demean himself by riding the team bus.

He needs to read the book or actually the short story "1274 Yards of Egomania" by Maurice Clarett.

Wow, miami got punked hard this year. Smith was supposed to be a famous "silent verbal" and a lifelong Canes fan. They also lost their only WR recruit to Syracuse today.

Can't say I'm all that upset to see Perrilloux and Bennett spurn Mack Brown either.
