Rivals 250 Final List: 250

- Of note, both Daniel Herron and Soloman Thomas have been dropped from the list. Prospects we are still in on from the list are Still, Heyward, Thompson, Hines, Allen, and Wright. Only new name worth mentioning would be Pat Lazear, though it's a moot point due to his troubles in the court.

Thomas and Herron not in the top 250 players in the country in kinda laughable, I guess is about the only way I can put it...

Yep. They already didn't have enough Ohio guys in there and they seized the opportunity to put more southern players in.

Updated Rivals Top 40 for Pennsylvania. Of note:

1. Derrick Morgan
8. Rob Gronkowski
12. Brandon Lindsey
18. Evan Blankenship (up 7 spots)

Pretty odd that #1 player in PA is going to Georgia Tech and the #8 player is going to Arizona (gratned Rob is not native PA). Not your national powerhouses...typically the top 10 in that state are grabbed by UM and PSU and Pitt as well...Just goes to show how odd this years recruiting has been.

Wednesday, February 07, 2007
ASSOCIATED PRESS

Those Southeastern Conference football teams are at it again, jockeying for position and vying for top-10 rankings.
This time they have been racking up wins not on the field but in the living rooms of top recruits. Six SEC teams are likely to land top 10-rated recruiting classes today, national signing day.
"I?ve been doing this for 28 years and this will be the first time there will be six," said Tom Lemming, recruiting analyst for College Sports Television.

From the Weis book of recruiting.

***Throughout his junior school year, Benn said he had considered Notre Dame his top choice, but when he felt as though the Fighting Irish coaching staff was putting too much pressure on him to commit he stopped considering the school. Once Benn orally committed to Illinois, Notre Dame assistant Peter Vaas continued to pepper Benn with text messages and voice mails, some of which Benn provided to The Post:

"FYI, ILL is telling Robert Hughes that they will build their offense around him? Didn't they tell you that?

Coach Vaas," Vaas wrote Benn on Dec. 17.

Earlier that month, Vaas left this voice message on Benn's phone: "You don't want to do anything except bury your head in the sand. . . . I guess you're not tough enough to compete at the big level."*** continued
