Real Life CFB Trolls

Anyone have a couple in your life? Anytime you try to have a legitimate conversation with someone about cfb, since they know your a Buckeye fan they have to interject with "Suckeye", "SEC", etc.

A guy I work with is one of these. He is a fan of the U,[sarcasm]so he knows a lot about college football[/sarcasm]. When I was talking to a Michigan fan about Pryor during recruiting, he 'guaranteed' me that he was going to Oregon. No chance he would go to Ohio Sate.

He then asks me every week what Junior College Ohio State is playing, which is fine, its funny the first time when we're playing YSU and every other school out there is playing NFL teams, so I get that. But he needs to come up with new stuff.

Today he 'guaranteed' me again, that the Suckeyes would go 8-4. Go to the Alomo Bowl and get crushed. Losses to Wisc, PSU, and Ill. I said I'd take that bet. He then said, well 9-3. I said ok. He adds, 'well including the bowl game. 3 losses including the bowl game.'
[he also claimed the U was gonna beat Florida, and that Marve is a better QB than Tebow, or something like that]

Just like on the boards, if you try to bring facts into the mix and back up things, he gets on his heals, and gets confused. He can't think of all the stuff ESPN told him this week.

I could ask shetuk for some help, but I already know his real name, email, and where he works... so that won't do me any good.

And yes, they are everywhere. Sadly, I've run into more tOSU trolls than any other school around here. I'm having a discussion with my best friend, who is a TSUN fan, and idiot Buckeye fans have to open thier mouths. I hate having to tell them off, but they ask for it.

Living in Georgia was the worst by far however. UGA fans saying "we take our football seriously in the south!", then on Sunday asking me if UGA won. "They did? Awesome. Who did they play? Are they any good?"



One idiot, no matter how hard I tried, kept telling me that GaTech was going to smoke tOSU. It didn't seem to matter to him that they weren't playing each other.

yeah, my parents live in Columbia, SC... so they get this all the time. Those huge bowl wins for them [gamecocks] in 00 & 01.. (really were huge, given they've only won 4 bowls in their history)... my dad still puts up his brutus buckeye in the yard showing his pride. and he never heard the end of the "SEC domination" of the Bucks from USC, er, Carolina, er South Carolina fans the past 2 years.

Not really a troll persay but I was eavesdropping in on a Notre Dame grad's phone call the other day on the light rail. I heard him say that if they beat Michigan State, they could lose the rest of their games and they'd probably still make a bowl. Nevermind the fact that they'd be 3-9 and not even close to bowl eligible.

Living in Atlanta, I hear it all the time. Local radio station hacks.

The worst is the ESPN boards though. Don't go there.

Screenames such as: SlowBig10, SECISFOOTBALL, and num1SECfan

Even being in a tOSU board, these people will come in and talk only of the past two seasons, and literally assault anyone that mentions tOSU. They'll Call K-State and Notre Dame weak BCS teams, and the win over UMiami was never a penalty, of course. They hate on everything tOSU or even Big Ten, and it's usually 5 or even 10 to 1 haters to actual Buckeye fans.

Then the only Buckeye fans that go on there anymore are usually pretty dumb, and say very stupid things back.

It's like watching toddlers bicker.

But from what I've heard they're way easier.

You have the luxury of not having an in-state rival to snipe at you 24/7-365. Georgia has Tech, Florida - Fsu and Miami, Auburn has bama, S.Carolina, clemson...etc

Please DO NOT interpret this as a knock that your rivalries don't matter. But I do think it adds a special seasoning to the "hate casserole" when you share a state with your rival.

Formerly, I worked with a couple of Georgia Tech guys who loved stopping by my desk and asking me questions in a faux southern accent and wondering how many students at UGA would major in communications this year. I'd be a smart ass and ask them if they'd ever seen a woman naked that wasn't on the internet or dressed as a she-elf...blah blah blah.

I still chuckle everytime I think of that GT Thursday night game two years ago when Erin Andrews was interviewing Andre 3000 on the sidelines, and she asked him his favorite team, and it goes something like:

Andre 3000: "Well Georgia Tech, and Ohio, and The U, and ..."
Erin Andrews: "By Ohio, of course, you mean Ohio State!"
