RB/WR Curtis Samuel (Buffalo Bills)

This may sound like an ignorant question but when we say we at OSU are rolling out the red carpet for a recruit, what all would that entail as opposed to just hosting a recruit? The 1-on-1 time with UFM would probably be a main bullet point but what else are we talking. If this more appropriate for another section mods, feel free to move it there. Thanks.

Without getting into specifics, you can bet that the red carpet treatment would at least include a private one-on-one sit down chat with Meyer, in Meyer's office. Not every recruit will get that...

If they want to talk about academics, OSU has a more prestigious program than Rutgers. I doubt Samuel has decided what he wants to study yet so its not like they have an advantage in that department.

With OSU this also often includes private time with Gee, Archie and whatever other superstar is around on any given day.

Dontre was at or very near the top of the board last year and it sounds like he is living up to the billing and will featured quite a bit this year. Curtis is in that spot this year. Think the staff plans on him making an early impact? Picturing Curtis, Dontre, Jalin, and Zeke along with the stable of RB and WR core is just mind blowing. The staff is literally choosing now more so than recruiting. I'm so glad the staff is making Curtis a priority because he is a stud. If he comes on board he must know he is stepping into a powder keg. That's got to be quite a pitch by Urban to this young man.

247 Free - Samuel To Decide Soon

8/14

In talking with Brooklyn (N.Y.) Erasmus Hall head coach Danny Landberg, a decision for his uber-talented five-star athlete Curtis Samuel could come by the end of the week.

Ohio State and Rutgers are the only two schools left in play, with Samuel getting a chance to visit both campuses over the last couple weeks.

Landberg told 247Sports last Friday that he was trying to get back to Ohio State on either Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Samuel is not scheduled to make the trip with him, but Landberg didn?t rule it out. As of Tuesday morning, the logistics of Landberg's return to Columbus had not been finalized.

The Buckeyes are the consensus favorite to land the 6-foot, 185-pound Samuel, but Rutgers is making a late push.

Currently ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 3 athlete and No. 25 prospect overall, Samuel would certainly provide a big boost to each recruiting class. Ohio State is sitting No. 6 nationally and tops in the Big Ten at this point, while Rutgers checks in at No. 21, which would rank the Scarlet Knights third in their future conference.

Rutgers recruiting: Where does Rutgers stand with five-star Curtis Samuel?

"The Rutgers visit was great," said Rizzi. "Every time we visit, coach Flood kicks the doors open for us. And I think coach Flood was the first person to offer him back when he was a sophomore. Curt loved the tour of the facilities there.

"There is a great familiarity with the staff, with the entire program and some of the players that are there," he continued. "There is a comfort zone there with Curtis and Rutgers, and that's the biggest reason why they are still in play. It's really coming down to Rutgers and Ohio State, right now. That's it."

There has been speculation that Samuel would travel to Ohio State this week to make his pledge. And although he could decide to make his decision soon, according to Rizzi, Samuel won't be visiting the Buckeyes any time this week.

"He's not going, coach Landberg is just going for the day," said Rizzi. "He's flying out today and coming back Friday because we've gotta get going. We are giving out equipment this weekend and he's got to get back to the program. He's just going to sit down with the coaching staff.

"We already know where they stand with Curt and where Curt stands with them. And there's a comfort level there. Now, we're just building a relationship, trying to get better as a staff, and getting on the board with them... watching film, seeing how their practice goes, stuff like that."

Rizzi expects Samuel to make a decision between Rutgers and Ohio State within the next couple weeks: "We expect him to commit soon, probably within a week or two."
