RB/WR Curtis Samuel (Buffalo Bills)

Stow, I am glad you mentioned that because that may have been some of the worst football I have seen from a highlight tape in a long time. The speed is evident but how good is he is the question I have because the level of competition I saw there makes it hard to evaluate.

I certainly agree the competition is awful but you can see lots of positives aside from his ability to run through tackles...change of direction, lateral movement, and top end speed, etc. Further, he has proven himself at all the national combines on numerous occasions. Not contradicting your statement at all but just saying I think all things considered, he is still a 5 star type talent.

The competition is suspect, however he had a very nice showing at The Opening against the top talent in the nation....

The Opening: Top Five Offensive Surprises

5. Curtis Samuel, WR (5’11, 186) – Brooklyn (N.Y.) Erasmus Hall
Samuel was a bit of an unknown before the event, but that changed quickly when ran the 40-yard dash in 4.36 seconds during the Sparq testing. Samuel showed he belonged with the elite during the 7-on-7 competition when he caught the ball and showed acceleration and speed to pull away from cornerbacks in short space. He has a top five of Notre Dame, Ohio State, Alabama, Miami and Rutgers.

Curtis Samuel was accompanied on his trip to Rutgers, Friday, by his head coach, Danny Landberg, assistant coach, Ray Lizzi, and multiple Erasmus Hall underclassmen. Samuel and company were given a tour of the facilities and received an up-close and personal view of the Rutgers program by head coach, Kyle Flood, and quarterbacks coach, Rob Spence. The Scarlet Knights, perceived as the versatile receiver's second choice at the moment, had a lot of ground to make up after Samuel's trek to Friday Night Lights in Columbus, last weekend.

But instead of rolling out the red carpet for Samuel, he was provided a realistic view of the opportunities he would have at Rutgers, from both an academic and athletic standpoint. However, Ohio State still appears to be the favorite in the two-team race for the 6-0, 180-pounder, who will make his official decision in the coming weeks.

Uh, Rutgers, you can roll out the red carpet while at the same time providing a realistic view of his academic and athletic opportunities...the two aren't mutually exclusive.

This may sound like an ignorant question but when we say we at OSU are rolling out the red carpet for a recruit, what all would that entail as opposed to just hosting a recruit? The 1-on-1 time with UFM would probably be a main bullet point but what else are we talking. If this more appropriate for another section mods, feel free to move it there. Thanks.
