Curtis Samuel is only scratching the wrapping of the surface.
Some would say that Curtis Samuel is only scratching the surface of what he can do, but I’d go a step further and say that he’s only scratching the cellophane that his future is wrapped in right now. Samuel only had two touches on offense, but both of them gained a first down, and both showed the value that he can provide.
I truly believe that he could be an outstanding running back next year, but if Mike Weber is what the staff thinks he is at running back, Samuel could be in for an offensive MVP type of season next year even as the Buckeyes’ H-back. If he and Weber can split the carries next season, and he’s catching four or five passes per game, he could be the ideal H-back in Urban Meyer’s offense.
They won’t have to force the ball to him out of the wildcat like they did with Braxton Miller, because he is completely at ease taking a handoff, or lead blocking for a jet sweep, or anything else that they will ask him to do next season — and they will ask him to do an awful lot.

I questioned the hefty amount of "h-backs this season" but looking at next year and how raw the pass catchers will be, it was a great strategy to get Samuel solid experience as a receiver. Him, Marshall, and Baugh are all the proven hands we have for JT to pass to. I'm really, REALLY looking forward to see how explosive he looks. The kid seems to have Braxton speed out of the backfield.

CURTIS READY TO BLOW. A mere two years ago we wondered who would fill the void of Carlos Hyde, Urban Meyer's first 1,000-yard rusher (remember when that was a thing?).
We knew Ezekiel Elliott possessed the capability to make a cheerleader switch allegiances, but could he run? Could he catch? Most importantly, could he handle the blocking duties El Guapo made look routine?
Ah, the trials and tribulations of an Ohio State fan. Elliott will play on Sundays soon, and Curtis Samuel will be the next four-star recruit to whom we look.

Most would agree Samuel deserved more than 37 touches in 2015, but at whose expense would those touches come? That question was never as clear.
Barriers to Samuels' touches, however, will be gone come September 2016.

The lack of #QBgeddon will help Ohio State mold an offensive identity in the offseason. Talent is leaving Columbus, but talent still lurks. It will be a different challenge, and after the burden of Ohio State's win streak, it could be a welcomed change of pace within the Woody.

You know what? Chicken butt.
He's not Zeke. But as a combo with Weber we can replicate the production and do a few more things too. Besides its always nice to share the load. Kid has looked electric at times.

Definitelya different type back. But next year I see a RBBC approach to replace Zeke. It'll be interesting to see how the RBs are used because there doesn't seem to be a dominant RB that will take most of the load. But then again were not even in the off season yet...

I've always liked systems that deploy RBBC with the right type athletes. Weber seems lore in the mold of Hyde which I can see being a nice compliment to Curtis.

While the OC who ran read option with Cardale Jones for a good portion of the season and managed to do nothing with Braxton Miller is still calling plays, I won't get too excited about how the team is going to utilize a player's talents on offense next season.

I hear you, but we lost 1 game last year, I'd say something went right. For all we know Urban can diminish his role and it could work for the better. Trying to show some type of optimism since I doubt Beck is going anywhere this off season. And Samuel and Weber could be the next Bush/White RB combo. I'm sure every Buckeye fan wouldn't complain about that

I think Curtis will be a great asset in the offense next year. He's much tougher than some give him credit for. I don't believe his size will be much of an issue, but I can easily see Weber or Dunn fighting for carries as well. He'll bring a different skill set than what we were used to with Zeke

I wanted to see Samuel get more touches. He can do things Zeke couldn't. I would not forget about Dunn either. It will be very interesting this off season to see who is going to work the hardest and step up? I would like to see Samuel put on 10 lbs if he is going to stay at RB. If Dunn works hard, Samuel may wind up at H and Dunn may be a work horse. Time will tell.

Agreed. Samuel is too light to be an every down back. However, if he doesn't gain weight, we can use him in combination with Dunn. Dunn being our bruising, short yardage guy.
What I love about Urban is that he thinks outside of the box and doesn't mind being unconventional with his set ups.
