You're right. What I meant, rather than wrote, was that while 4 and 5-star recruits want to start right away, in Urban's team culture playing special teams, getting a few minutes where you can, or maybe not even playing (red-shirt) can be a prelude to a huge second year.

Just re-watched the Indiana game. Unlike the days of the past when if a certain back went down the Bucks had no running game, I'm convinced that if Zeke had gone down the team wouldn't have missed a beat; Samuel would have stepped right in to carry the load.

That's a pretty bold statement. I'm not saying Samuel wouldn't be great in his own way, but we might indeed miss a little something without Zeke. I remember quite a few times last year thinking just give him the ball but it didn't happen. I'm hoping that when his career is over he really will be an all time great in Columbus. I'm not saying he isn't some kind of legend in Columbus after the last three games last year or anything, just that I think he has the potential to be legendary in all of college football.

Folks might've thought the same thing about Elliott had Carlos Hyde went down in 2013 and Elliott turned out OK. I think the drop off with Samuel at RB would be minor if Zeke went down for a game or two...especially since Samuel had more carries and game experience in his true frosh year than did Zeke.

Like I said...I think Curtis will be great in his own way. I just personally feel that Zeke could be destined for an all time greatness type of thing. Talking about him missing a couple of games is just sickening to me. I have no doubt that Curtis can make an impact, but I've thought Zeke was the real deal since the FAMU game. Yes I know...famu. but you take away his injury last year and add an extra 7-10 carries a game early on...What kind of season does he have then? I mean seriously, best running back in the country..finished 5th best in the BIG? Again Curtis imo will be great....I just want him to wait his turn.

Nice compliment to Samuel, but Elliott might just be the best Buckeye tailback since Archie. So I'm not sure I can agree.

I don't think Samuel can carry a team himself, he's more of a rotational RB, IMO. When/if Zeke leaves after this season I see Samuel sharing carries with Weber and the vets. Samuel will be used more than just at RB so he won't need to be a primary RB

I didn't mean to slight Zeke in my comments, though I can see how they could be construed that way. I was thinking more about how much trouble the Bucks had running when MoC wasn't in the line up, followed by when Beanie wasn't in the line up, followed by when Carlos wasn't in the line up until Zeke showed up. I'm sure we had some talented people sitting on the bench, but the running game just seemed to me to disappear when they weren't ready.

Perhaps it was the quality of the line, the passing game and all the options JT and Cardale brought to the game, but Samuel just seemed to be a great change of pace when he spelled Zeke - maybe the defense read Zeke going out as "don't worry about the run" time - whatever it was, Samuel always seemed to get a nice run that kept a drive going or put the ball over.
