Worst case, we need some OSU engineers ready to piece together a complete RB with the spare parts we have.
A lot of talent, a lot of recently injured talent. If this group is healthy, the Bucks have a National Championship offense.

ONLY OHIO STATE. Turns out, we never even had to worry about where Trey Sermon was going to end up once he entered the transfer portal. He was never even considering any other schools and would have come to Ohio State out of high school if he could have.
Sermon combined vision with speed and showed the power to gain tough yards.
But the belief by those close to him is that Sermon is poised to do more. Part of it is that Ohio State was Sermon’s first choice out of high school. But after his back injury, the Buckeyes’ interest cooled.
“He was a little disappointed, but we moved on,” said his mother, Natoshia Mitchell. “He did the best that he could do at Oklahoma, and then he wanted to grow more.”

She said her son was considering a transfer before the injury. After it, Mitchell said, he decided that he would indeed enter the transfer portal. Once he did, there was no doubt where he would land, she said.
“He didn’t want to hear from any other school,” Mitchell said. “He was like, ‘Ma, do not talk to anyone else. Ohio State reached out. That’s where I’m going.’ ”
And here we were reading into Twitter followers to try to get a hint about where he'd be going. Though to be fair, we weren't wrong.
Personally, I'm stoked about the Sermon addition. Ohio State has probably the most dangerous and loaded offense in the country that was pretty much just missing a proven running back, especially with Master Teague's injury.
2,467 yards from scrimmage, 6.1 yards per carry and 25 total touchdowns through about 2.5 years is proven enough for me, and I don't even think he's touched his ceiling.
We've seen some magic at work in some players who've transferred to Oklahoma, let's see if it works the other way around.

Re: Trey Sermon gets to prove himself after injury
His Oklahoma career didn’t end on the note Trey Sermon envisioned thanks in part to an LCL injury last season. But Sermon is ahead of schedule in his recovery, and he should be cleared for full activity in time for his arrival at Ohio State after his graduation in May — assuming, of course, that campus is open by then.
Well, I'd like to hear that his knee is 100%, he passed the physical, and he is "cleared for full activity" too.

RYAN DAY “VERY, VERY IMPRESSED” BY NEW OHIO STATE RUNNING BACK TREY SERMON BOTH ON AND OFF THE FIELD
After Master Teague suffered an Achilles injury during the opening day of spring practice in March, Ryan Day knew Ohio State needed another running back.
Marcus Crowley was already sidelined for the spring, recovering from an ACL injury, leaving redshirt freshman Steele Chambers and incoming freshman Miyan Williams as the Buckeyes’ only scholarship running backs not recovering from major injuries. So Ohio State, he thought, had to find another running back who could play immediately this fall.
That’s why Ohio State quickly kicked the tires when former Oklahoma running back Trey Sermon entered the transfer portal less than two weeks after Teague suffered his injury. And after Day started talking to Sermon and people who could vouch for Sermon as a football player and person, he was sold that the graduate transfer would be a good fit to join the Buckeyes’ 2020 running back room.
“Master getting hurt here in the spring put us behind the 8-ball a little bit in terms of depth, and then Marcus Crowley coming off the ACL, so when Trey became available, we did a lot of research, made a lot of calls,” Day said during a teleconference with reporters on Wednesday, shortly after Ohio State officially announced the roster addition of Sermon. “The people at Oklahoma had such great things to say about him. We played against him and we saw what he could do on the field. He’s a really good player. But off the field, just again, the people who know him have such great things to say about him.”
Running backs coach Tony Alford has known Sermon since he was in high school, when the Buckeyes were a major player in his recruitment before J.K. Dobbins committed to Ohio State in the same recruiting class. Day and the Buckeyes saw what Sermon could do firsthand when he had 85 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown – in just his second game as a true freshman – in Oklahoma’s 31-16 win at Ohio Stadium in 2017.
After watching the film from Sermon’s three seasons at Oklahoma, in which he rushed for 2,076 yards and 22 touchdowns and caught 36 passes for 391 yards and another three touchdowns, Day was left with little doubt that Sermon could make the Buckeyes’ running back room better.
“He can do a lot of things,” Day said. “He’s big, strong, powerful, got good feet in the hole. He can break tackles. He can run routes out of the backfield. He can pass protect. Again, he’s another versatile guy.”

A little over a week before Sermon hit the portal, the Buckeyes suffered a blow at running back when redshirt sophomore Master Teague injured his Achilles tendon. Combine that with sophomore Marcus Crowley still recovering from an ACL tear, and the pursuit of Sermon made perfect sense.

Sermon’s injury wasn’t as bad as Crowley’s, but it still ended up bringing an end to his Oklahoma career.
Ohio State did not have the ability to bring Sermon in for a physical check-up on his knee, so they relied on information from OU regarding the injury as well. Day and his staff asked the questions and OU head coach Lincoln Riley and his staff were forthcoming every step of the way.
