IF Hendo is staying, he could easily finish top 4 in Ohio State history in rushing yards and chase Zeke for top 3, ahead of the likes of Eddie George & Beamie Wells. Would be a hell of a legacy on its own

Definitely. There’s no way Alford and Day are letting Chip leave, nor do I think Chip would leave if Henderson wasn’t staying. The math just doesn’t math if the only player left is Hayden and the incoming class. One of the transfers would likely stick around at least to compete and/or split carry’s.

IMO that’s the way to go…
To me it seems like we leaned into the “run the ball like Wisconsin” a bit too much.
Hear me out. Last year we had a pocket QB, bigger backs a lot, played 2 WRs known for blocking, and played a ton of 2 TE sets. I think we should lean into being more dynamic. Force teams to respect the QB, rotate RBs that are threats with the ball (not just for lead blocking), and put our best WRs on the field that can stretch the field.

I loved how we used Chip and the X Man in the two back sets. I would like to keep that in the arsenal but use TreV and Hayden.

Yeah I liked it too but I’d like to see us use someone as a decoy instead of a lead.
A big problem I’ve had with our offense after 2021 was our insistence on putting size on the field and then smashing ahead (normally with minimal results). The objective should be to move people out of the box not to add defenders.
We can really create a numbers advantage by running the QB more, motioning, and also using decoys.
So in your example, before snap we could notion Trey out into the flat to remove a defender and then run a read option which gives us +1 in the running game with having to account for the QB. The motion would also tip the coverage too and besides you could always then run a jet sweep with one of the backs who just motioned out.
More speed on the field is the answer I think. Unpack the box and clean up the view for the OL/RB.

For all the people against NIL, these is a big example for why NIL helps as well. There will be a ton of kids making business decision to remain in school if theyre on the fence on turning pro. Several years ago I would've expected Treveyon to be on the first plane smoking out of Cbus, but the fact that he can get his degree, still enjoy the college experience AND get paid as much as RBs in the NFL.

I mean when you can walk away from college with $2M in your pocket it opens so many doors. Gives you more options if it doesn’t work out in the NFL. You don’t even have to go to the league if you don’t want to. You can start a business or go into coaching right away. You could earn enough to retire if you want to live a middle class life. Doubt very many high caliber players can do that, but saving your body by not going into the league has benefits.

Exactly... pre-NIL there have been some head scratchers in terms of kids coming back to deal with unfinished business (beat a rival, win the conference, with a national championship). Now there is a financial incentive. This has and will continue to change the dynamics of college football broadly.

*per sources. Yeah. At worst MJH will be the 3rd pick. That’s worth nearly 40m, with 20-25m up front as a signing bonus. If we have an NIL pool this deep we would get every top portal player and have the #1 class every year.
Not to mention those top rookie contracts are fully guaranteed. If he shatters his leg tomorrow or has some sort of Katzenmoyer neck injury he doesn’t lose a dime.

True, and I'd suggest MHJ goes pro, BUT - there are significant insurance policies in place for MHJ that would set him up for life in case of a severe injury that impacted his professional career. I believe the top guys get loss of value up to $10 million currently.
