RB TreVeyon Henderson (Official Thread)

Sometimes, it's not even a question of him having a massive hole. It's whether he cuts back at the right time. If he doesn't, it's one of his 2 yard gain or 1 yard loss runs. If he cuts at the right moment, it's 40 yards+.
I agree, but sometimes the cut has to do with the hole immediately closing. But the way that the OL is playing, we have to live and die with that boom or bust scenario because Chip and Miyan showed yesterday what it looks like when they’re the primary ball carriers. 2 RBs who run hard, but can’t create more yards on their own. Henderson putting 1 foot down and being able to go to the house can cover up the OL not being able to ever block a LB.

I'd love to meet the Treyveon Henderson you think exists.

You saw him against ND for one. As he was by far our best looking RB. Neither Chip or Miyan can make that big run that he did. And thats My point. Yes they all have their strenthgs and weaknesses, and I’m not saying that Henderson doesn’t have issues as well, because I agree his vision isn’t the best and he doesn’t fight through tackles like the other 2. But the speed he has would’ve been able to break one against Maryland, which Chip no Miyan can do.
At the end of the day, we’ll continue to be frustrated by the poor OL play. And it will continue to affect the run game. I have no clear answer, and my only offer was speed being able to be more effective than power.

Just sayin': The rushing game stats were 33 carries for 662 yards, ave. carry 1.9 yards, longest run 11 yards, and 1 rushing TD which is absolutely pathetic. Surely he would have improved the rushing stats. In addition, he is really our best hope for a long breakaway TD run. And yeah I know, the OL consistently was losing "the battle in the trenches" on running plays.

Regardless Ohio State did eventually win by 20; so all is good. Hopefully the day off gives his injury(?) a chance to fully heal and he is 100% for Purdue.

Henderson goes down on the first touch. It would have been even worse with the OL play.

They did create more yards on their own.
A lot of those runs are TFLs without them fighting for every inch and falling forward.
Treveyon is the homerun threat, but he's taking those TFLs every time.

alternative take.... I wonder if he plays a ton of seasons without missing games due to injury because the S&C and training staff on this team are horrific/borderline negligent
Not totally about Tre here, but at one time wasn’t our S&C staff considered to be one of the best in the business? Is it them, the field, both?

I’ve been thinking about this as well. It’s not like Mic forgot everything he’s known in the last couple of years. There’s something beyond the S&C staff. That said, to suggest that the S&C staff shouldn’t be trying to figure out what’s going on and adapting would be wrong as well… but I don’t think that this is exclusively S&C staff.

There were many years under Meyer when we didn't have a single OL miss a start to injury

How involved is Mic anymore? Has Mic lost his touch if he's still training based on the way the game was 8-10 years ago... there's been a lot of changes and advancements. Is he failing to keep learning and adapt?... does Day have more forced influence over the S&C program? I don't see any more about St Valentines Day massacre workouts, and another thing ... the OL under Meyer/Mic weren't always a shoe in to not get any push a lot of times....think about that 4th down with Barrett against Michigan in the Shoe that they bitch about all the time...

Maybe it's the fact that this is football and people get hurt, and there isn't some entity out there causing this.
Very true... my shot was more of the frequency of these little nagging injures and how something that should be a 2-4 week injury turns into a year long injury.

sorry digressing ... back to Henderson ... Get back as soon as you're healed kid.
