Maybe even sadder is that highschool in general is getting dumbed down more with each passing year. And still...
None of these kids are stupid. They just haven't been forced to face the consequences of not doing the work. Rather than having to bust their ass at the end of your senior year to qualify, they should have put in the modest amount of effort required to do well for 4 years.
Not that I want to dump on this kid; I didn't work as hard as I could have in high school or as a UG. Hopefully it's just a learning experience of the right kind: learn that you have to work hard and be accountable for your decisions, and not learn that exceptions will be made to accommodate you because you can tote the rock.
