RB Miyan “Chop” Williams (Official Thread)

Though they are different types of backs, wondering if this effects Pryor sticking around.

I hope I don't end up being incorrect on this, but I think they had big plans for Pryor last year, that should just roll over to 2023. Coming off knee surgery, I don't think he'd want a major workload anyways. I think with Miyan & Tre both coming off injuries, & Dallan seeing those injuries......I'd assume everyone would be happy sharing the load. I also think Pryor was going to get more looks as a RB in motion....Curtis Samuel jet-sweep type stuff.

Yeah that's how I feel. If I'm being frank, I'd prefer to have Williams, Haden and Pryor. That's not a slam on Henderson more so than I really like Williams/Haden and I think Pryor is a true weapon in all phases.
Nah a healthy Henderson, if used properly, is a hiesman candidate. God just gave him so much more than the others.

Not saying they all aren't great brw

Glad he's back. Guaranteed one of the four leaves.

I don’t think this is a given at all….

Henderson is going to be coming off a significant foot surgery. Pryor is coming off ACL surgery. Miyan needs the off-season to get healed up and as physical as he plays he really shouldn’t get more than 15 carries a game.

I actually think 4 backs that share the load coming off the 2022 medical massacres we had in that room should sound pleasant rather than a burden to at least (3) of the 4 in that room. The only one that might need convincing is Dallan IMO, but I don’t think he’s going anywhere.

I wish God would've given him some vision
And the ability to play 4 qtrs of 13 games.
Yep.

He's no doubt a talent but even when the two were healthy Miyan clearly was the more effective back. Reason for that is Miyan had developed vision that Trey just doesn't have. Trey's greatest asset is also his liability IMO. TH has always been able to out run the defense and because of that has never had to be savvy in the way he sets a defense up to turn a 2 yard gain into an 8 yard gain. He's never had to learn patience to let his lineman create space for him. Instead he's always relied on himself to create his own space.

This is similar to Edwards and Corum. Sure Edwards is more talented but Corum is the better back by far.

Hayden/Williams aren't as skilled as Pryor/Henderson but IMO they're better backs. If I had to only chose 2 that's who I'd take (Hayden/Williams). We don't need a back that dances and bounces everything. We need downhill and 6 yards to keep everything on schedule to allow our play action (and our bevy of WRS) to eat.

I didn't mean to turn this thread into a Henderson one. I am not going to argue with any of you that he needs more vision and the injury situation at OSU as a whole is a major major issue, but as I stated Henderson needs to be used properly. No he isn't going to be the best between the tackles runner, but the Kid didn't get a pass his way for like 8 weeks, this forum was pissed about it. Use his God given talents ( a 225lb 19yr Kid that runs a low 4.4). Wheel routes, screens, option to wide side of field ( I don't think this is in Days playbook right now), etc etc. For 12 games this year Day was stupidly determined to show the football world how fucking tough his team was, all it did was get all of OSUs backs injured over the course of the year. Which culminated with OSU starting a linebacker at running back in "The Game"

If Day learns one thing from this year, it needs to be this. Don't hold back on your playcalling. Blow MFers out and then put the backups in and let them run the full playbook.
