RB Maurice Wells (Official Thread)

IMO you pound them first, then hit them with the speed...

I gotta go with this answer. I always love proving that you can pound it, and making them hurt.

I am really excited about Mo this year. As the vet rb, he will get a lot worked out for him in the offense, and he will take advantage of that, in my opinion. His name is already looking pretty prominent in scouting reports (though Beanie has the ankle deal), and I bet we see a new Mo this next year. His abilities weren't focused upon in the offensive scheme, as has been said, and I hope to see him blossom with the newfound attention to his needs, characteristics, and leadership.

Woot!

Buckeyes' Mo Wells now thinking only of moving chains

By Doug Harris

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State junior running back Maurice Wells is no longer looking for greener pastures ? unless, of course, that means those places on a football field that aren't so cluttered with defenders.
The Jacksonville, Fla., native admitted during the week of the national title game last season that he was thinking about transferring after a sophomore year playing behind Antonio Pittman and Chris "Beanie" Wells.

Maurice Wells Content With Role
By John Porentas
C'mon, admit it, you've had those thoughts. You know, the ones where your job or class seemed totally futile or just wasn't going well and you just wished you could move on. Or maybe you just couldn't see any light at the end of the tunnel on a big project you were involved in, and you just wanted to chuck it and do something else, anything else.

Very glad to see MoWells doing well. Talked to him at camp last year and he is just a really polite person. Not to mention he pretty much never leaves the WHAC...I'm not joking when I say that every session I went to, he was in there working out. We had three 2 hour sessions or so a day and I think that speaks volumes on how hard MoWells has been working to get out on the field this year. Not to mention that as JT said, we are going to need him to do well to be good this year.

I think he's gonna be a breakout player on offense this year. He's the perfect compliment to Beanie's bruising style and could be a real asset as a reciever out of the backfield on some of those swing passes.

And I would think that those little dump passes to the RB will definitely be in hte offense, especially early on while breaking in a new QB.

Gut Wrench Gary is a big fan of Wells. Gut Wrench Gary says Gut Wrench Gary predicts that Wells will have a break out year. Gut Wrench Gary thinks that Wells is a talented back. Gut Wrench Gary says that he might be a heisman candidate in a few years. Gut Wrench Gary says that he should carry the load this year on the offensive side of the ball.

Just wondering but you said Gut Wrench Gary says twice in a row....so does that make that speaking in 6th person.

I think you might have the two Wells mixed up a bit, Gary. Maurice wells is a very good but small scat back but he is not a Heisman type back especially if he isn't a starter. I think you are thinking about the bigger back named Beanie Wells aren't you? I think Maurice Wells is going to have a good year and I hope he does very well. Having at least 2 great running backs always makes a team better. We are going to need both Maurice and Beanie to be good if we want to do well in the Big Ten this year.

He should be a good change of pace when relieving beanie... he still had trouble between the tackles today... when the kid has space he is very shifty... I would think dump passes in the flat would be great plays for him...

I didn't see many holes between the tackles today... when he had room I thought he looked improved, and ran with a lot more power than last year.

I thought he ran with more strentgh and conviction today even tho he averaged about 2.4 today. He just looked more confident.
Hopefully the starting OL can get him some holes . He is more a runner like that kid from NIU last year
