RB Maurice Wells (Official Thread)

from interview on 2-1-2005 ( Bucknuts Premium)

Maurice says he plans on coming up to Columbus around May 17 or 18. He graduates from HS on the 16th. Additionally, his mother graduates and his father's order in the military is up this month. He wants to get through all the changes and get acclimated to the team as soon as possible.

Maurice Wells isn't wasting any time getting his Ohio State career started, and that's a good thing for all parties involved. The Buckeyes are in need of more depth at the running back position and Wells is ready to provide it, having already moved from his Jacksonville, Fla., home to Columbus and just waiting for his chance to begin working out with his future teammates. Wells is now in Columbus and staying with his aunt. He hopes to be working out with the team in the next week or so. He has been hitting the weights and preparing for college the last few months. His family will be moving up here in the near future.

Wells chances for playing time may have just gotten better with what just happened with Erik Haw, and now that Lenix is grayshirting he isn't an opton so I guess that leaves Pittman, Wells, and Russell especially if Haw is relived for the season.

Yeah, nothing but good news to Maurice.. though bad for the rest of BUckeye nation. Our already depleted RB corp just got smaller. Schnittker will also get carries this year now and either he or Dionte will most likely be the goalline back. Pittman is ready for a breakout year... and Wells could also as well. Their speed combination is going to be scary good .

Yea, I just feel bad for Haw though, because if he lets Mo Wells get a leg up on him on the depth chart, he will find it hard seeing the field at running back, and having the bigger Wells coming in 06' wont help his cause either.
This could quite possibly ulter Haw's carreer at tOSU and it would be sad because he truely is talented.
Blessing in disguise if Wells has a breakout Frosh year.
If not.................we'll be waitin on you Chris.

Maurice Wells moved into town recently and has begun working out with the team... those who have seen him are raving about him. FWIW, rumors are that he is over 190 lbs and benching over twice his weight.

His family is moving back to Columbus with him I believe, tho I am not sure if they came up now or not.

Go get 'em Mo! Hopefully he will give us a great reason to not give up hope on RB's named Maurice. MoHall was a hell of a contributor when healthy, especially as tOSU's all-time kick returner, and game winning TD's against scUM (and ILL/OT??) in '02. I will stop there before I ruin the obvious next statement. BTW, anyone know who will wear #13 this season so I can get mine out of mothballs?
