Maurice admits that he became a "silent verbal" to the Bucks back in November. He talks about his future at OSU:

“They told me if I come in, work hard, it would be a great opportunity for me,” he said. “They only have two scholarship running backs (Antonio Pittman and Erik Haw).

“They said they only would take two backs this year, me and (Jason) Gwaltney, but if Gwaltney did not come than I would be the only guy. So they are really counting on me. They really believe in me, so if I come in and work hard I can make a big impact on that program.”

During Coach Tressel's press conference, he mentioned that very few players in big-division Florida football had ever rushed for 3000 yds in a season as MoW did this year....the last person to do it before MoW was none other than Emmitt Smith.

You think anyone ever said he was too small to be successful?

Great point OSUGrad21. I have to admit I would have loved the speed-power combo of Wells and Gwaltney, but make no mistake about it, Maurice Wells was the staff's #1 priority at running back all along. The kid is solid at 5'9" 185 lbs, a has a compact body which lends itself to durability. He has incredible speed, cut back ability, and vision. Body wise, he's of a similar mold as Barry Sanders and Emmit Smith. I'm going on record right now making a prediction as of 2/2/05: MAURICE WELLS WILL BE AN ALL-AMERICAN at THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY. I also won't be surprised if he starts early at OSU and gains over 1000 yards total offense, running and catching passes out of the backfield next year. Besides, you never know, a young man by the name of Eric Haw just might turn out to be a better "power" back than the guy we missed out on this year. At this point, I can't even remember his name. And there's always next year, can you say CHRIS WELLS??!!

Who is this Maurice Wells??

Wells finished his senior season with 1,900 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns in nine games. For his career he had 5,985 yards rushing and 55 touchdowns. As a junior, Wells led the state of Florida in rushing with 3076 yds and 31 TDs. The Florida Times Union Player of the year also also broke the state's single game rushing yard record with 429 yards.

Wells: "I have great speed, endurance and agility. I'm very solid and have a mix of power and speed. I want to run my routes better and improve my catching in the backfield. I'd also like to put on some weight."

This is all fine and dandy but Who does he remind you of when running the ball??? I got a chance to see him in the US Army All Star Game but he did
not seem to play much and really did not get to see him play. He seems a little small but runs a 4.4 not bad. What do you guys think??? Who does he remind you of ???? How about Buckeyes?? Does he remind you of any past Buckeye Rb's??
