RB Maurice Wells (Official Thread)

Pittman already has proved that he is a very good back. Haw is a big back that we're all looking forward to see. Add Wells to the mix, and we have a RB stable that just won't quit. Even without Gwaltney, I think that trio revials most other teams' backfields.

BN27 & Mili - We all love Maurice, I think we have shown him a lot of love throughout the whole, crazy recruiting season. However, you cannot deny that Gwaltney is the hot topic right now. You don't just surrender a top-notch RB talent in Gwaltney becuase we have Pittman, Haw and Wells. With all due respect to them (and I have a lot) Gwaltney is powerhouse with 4.5 speed and a killer stiffarm. We also need depth and Russell or Lenix (both not true RBs, well maybe Russell a little bit) won't cut it. We need Jason in Columbus!!!!!!!!

Now, sorry but back to Maurice. Maurice is the man. Maurice is a stud. Maurice will blow by every defender on the field. Maurice will take it to the house plenty of times throughout his illustrious career as a Buckeye. I cannot wait to see this kid play in the Texas game, since I will be there. I was so siked he committed I couldn't stop smiling. Glad to have you Maurice, it is good to have guys like you on our side :).

I don't think I would go that far with Pittman. He had flashes but overall I don't think he proved an awful lot.

Hopefully the competition between all these backs (plus Gwaltney) will push someone to the forefront.

Truthfully, I think that Mo Wells is all we need at tailback for this recruiting year. If we can land Chris Wells or another big back next year, that gives us four on the roster for 2006, with only one being a junior. You do need to have some spacing in terms of eligibility, and picking up a second back in this class would give you three, counting Haw, unless that second back gets a redshirt (and the only guy we're looking at probably isn't going to get a redshirt). I know the staff seems to want two, and that would be nice for depth purposes, but I think that one per class for the next couple of years makes sense, presuming everyone stays in school and uninjured.

Mo Wells' speed potential is exciting -- we saw some good things from Pittman this year, and I think that a smaller, faster back like Wells can rack up some yards in our offense.

RUMOR: Mo Wells Decommit?

Take this with a serious grain of salt, but I wanted a single thread for when everyone gets on the boards today. There are two long threads on WEARESC saying that MoW has decommitted from tOSU and switched to USC. One thread is on the Premium board.

I'm not buying it...Alan can hopefully squash this one by lunchtime.

glad to see you went over there to stir the pot a little 21...

I have never posted on another teams board, but when Wells signs with OSU I am going to go over there and post a big, fat, :slappy: ...
