RB Maurice Wells (Official Thread)

Like I said, not trying to start a fiasco...just thought it was at least notable...

I think Wells sets off a chain reaction...McCoy, Wilson, McCarthy, Sledge, etc...

"Coach Conley at Ohio State said hands down he is the best running back that they’ve seen in years" -Sandalwood coach Adam Geis

Forgive me if that had already been posted. I just love that quote. I also love the fact that he's playing this up huge.

i'm not familiar with the system , do they usually just have an announcement with the news or does he actually get interviewed for a sec? I'd love him to say in light of all of the rumors ESPiN has put out about tOSU, I found my way through the smokescreen and will be a buckeye.

Last year, they did a quick interview and had the recruit pull a hat of the school of their choice out of a bag. The announcers also gave previews in advance, saying coming up soon... Mr. Such and Such recruit will announce his decision

Army All-American Talks Favorites
by Scott Kennedy of Scout.com, January 13, 2005 at 7:25pm ET

Wells says it is ONLY between GTech and tOSU. He talks highly of tOSU for sticking with him and being honest through all of the turnmoil surrounding the program. Maurice also talks about the ties to GTech and also their loyalty to him. However, the key quote of the article comes when discussing tOSU:

"I didn't want to turn down a school that had shown so much interest in me."
MoW still plans to announce during the AA game this saturday

while working in jax i caught a game on a local station before his visit and they were talking about it so i wathed and was amazed at his ability to find/make a hole. hed run, hit the line, and id think he was down they look 7 yards down and there he was running. i pity a team that sees wells ginn and smith in the backfield.

Can't wait to see Wells in Scarlet and Gray next season. With that said, he is going to have to be some kind of special to put Pittman and Haw on the bench! If he is that good then I'm buying Rose Bowl tickets but I don't see that happening. I think our stable of backs next season is going to be impressive. I think Erik Haw is going to blow us away in the spring game and Pittman is going to improve on his fine freshman season. If Wells comes in and gets the offense down by the Big10 season we are going to have another special year!

Come on down Maurice and bring your Army All America MVP trophy with ya!

dont know if i can post this or not, but this was on another site and i thought i would share to those who check here first for news. I dont think its premium.

You can listen to what we have to say about players all week long, but it's always interesting to see what the players themselves have to say. The question asked was "Your future college coach just called you and told you to recruit one guy to the team with you. Who are you taking with you?"

Q: Player Asked
A: His answer

http://scout.theinsiders.com/a.z?s=423&p=8&c=1&nid=1125794Q: Maurice Wells
A: I'd have to go with a lineman, so I'd say Alex Boone

Does Choice to GT Help Buckeyes Land Wells?

Since I am new to this forum, you may well have seen this. If it is old news let me know and I'll delete it. The info came from a Georgia Tech blog regarding the transfer of Tashad Choice, Adrian Peterson's backup, to GT. They don't sound overly confident in Wells committing to the Yellow Jackets. Let's hope they're right.

"Backing up Adrian Peterson just does not seem like a winning proposition, so it's official. Tashad Choice is transferring to the Jackets. However, he will not be eligible until the 2006 season due to transfer rules. He will have 2 years of eligibility remaining.

What the article does not say is that Choice wanted to go to Georgia Tech out of high school, but the staff stopped recruiting him once they signed Rashaun Grant. He's a local kid and a great addition to the team.

Could this be a signal that the battle for Maurice Wells is being lost? Could be. The transfer of Choice has actually been known on the 'net for awhile now, so it has not been a well kept secret. So is it a coincidence that this transfer becomes official the week after Wells makes his decision, but the week before he announces that decision? Probably not a chance event. While we all hope that Wells will become a Jacket, odds are that he has notified the staff that he will sign with Ohio State. I sure hope not. But we'll know for sure this weekend."
