Give it up already! You had your chance or several and the fact is you blew it. Glad you're not in the Pokey anymore, but I wouldn't mind never hearing about you again with the "possible football aspirations". I would be more impressed if you get a degree from tOSU and be productive in society. Omaha I mean come dude....really?

You act like he did something to you personally. Unless you're the person he robbed, get over it. He did his time, and the UFL is giving him a chance. He has every right to take it as long as the court allows him to go there.

I hope it works out for him. He can always go back for his degree.

If he could get his act together, stay out of trouble, and get in shape. Then, I see no reason that he couldn't have a career to the second half Icky Sticky Williams. The problem is can he really get those first three things together.

He looks very thin. There is a whole lot of reasons to be upset with the actions of Maurice and justifiably so. I guess the better thing to do is hope he turns things around and becomes a better man.

I think if Mr. Tressel can encourage him and support him then the casual fan should have no issues with supporting him as well.

True enough, we personally may never be in the position to have him write a letter on our behalf, but the man has no obligation beyond his conscience to do this. He is a much bigger man than most for doing so... and I'm not afraid to admit that he's a much bigger man that I could ever hope to be by doing what he's done here. I know that I'd not be able to let things go the way he has. In realizing this, among other things, it makes me appreciate the man far more than the coach.

To have a coach who wins in one thing... to have a man worth looking up to and using as a teaching example for our young people while winning is another thing. We are all very lucky to have JT associated with this program and we should be remiss to take it lightly.

Maurice Clarett will work out for the UFL's Nighthawks on August 29
Posted by Mike Florio on August 26, 2010

Former Ohio State University (and Ohio State Penitentiary) running back Maurice Clarett apparently has gotten clearance to leave the Commonwealth of Ohio. (We know it's not a Commonwealth, but we're going to keep calling it one because of the uncanny way in which it pisses so many of you off when we call Ohio a Commonwealth.) Clarett will be working out for the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks on August 29.

Clarett, the last pick in the third round of the 2005 draft (Broncos), has not yet been offered a contract. His workout will go a long way toward deciding whether he gets a shot.

It remains to be seen whether the bar will be higher for Clarett than it would be for a garden-variety player. Or, possibly, lower. If Clarett's notoriety can deliver interest in the UFL, the Nighthawks may decide that they'd rather have the former Buckeye than, say, Shaud Williams.

Then again, it's not as if one running back will have to go if Clarett receives an invitation to join the team. The Nighthawks currently have only two running backs on the roster -- Williams and Ahman Green.

UFL boss: Omaha must give Clarett a support system
By ERIC OLSON (AP)

OMAHA, Neb. ? Maurice Clarett can't sign with the Omaha Nighthawks until team shows it has a support system in place for the former Ohio State star, the commissioner of the United Football League said Thursday.

"Just throwing him to the wolves, I wouldn't be interested in that," Michael Huyghue said.

Dude messed up, bad. He did his time. So now you're gonna tell him he can't do something he could potentially become successful at, or at least know he gave it a shot?

Nice post, and I agree completely.

MoC was one of the most talented kids we've ever had here that sadly received too much bad advice from people.

I wish this kid NOTHING but the best. Yes, he messed up. But, without him, whether you want to admit it or not, we'd be sitting at 42 years without an NC.

Peace

You're right buddy....what was i thinking...stupid me....Go Clarett! Go Omaha whatevers..kick some ass.

Get serious the UFL is using this once tremendous Buckeye as a side show freak to sell tickets ...I'm not wishing against him and I hope he turns it all around. It is just hokey and not news worthy. The only good part of the story is Tress. showing his true colors. But What Ev.

So him making a living is irrelevant? How many better jobs do you think he'd be able to get with his criminal history? I'm betting zero.

I wish a UFL team would offer me a contract as a sideshow to sell tickets.

Be mad at the team who offered him the tryout. No reason to be mad at Clarrett. Dude's just trying to make a living at this point.

Did I post that him making a living was irrelevant? As far as better jobs that depends on his degree if he gets one (which is what i originally said in this thread)and I think some Ohio State Alum probable gives him a shot at a decent job/career. Soooo, are you saying he is unemployable except for UFL? Are you saying he is a thug? Has no other prospects?

I know you didn't mean it that way.......so take it easy with, "the making a living BS" or "irrelevant junk", don't try to spin my post or put words in my mouth.

Your line about being pissed at the team offering him a tryout is spot on....They are just trying to sell some tickets off our once great Buckeye Back does piss me off, but I wish Clarett had said no. That my thoughts. Anyway I'm just ready for next Thursday and this is just a time killer anyway.

Peace

Maybe he's a guy trying to get his life back together and any shot at using his greatest and expiring skill, football, is more important than the incredibly selfish comfort you take in his lack of visibility? :shake:

What you said had nothing to do with him making him a living and everything to do with you thinking he should turn down the opportunity because the team is trying him out as a publicity stunt. To me, that makes it sound like you don't care if that's the best career opportunity he has. I didn't put words in your mouth there..

And point out where I said he couldn't get a job, or where I called him a thug. I just wished him luck for Christ's sake. I'm sure he could get a job. A one with the potential of professional football? I guess it's possible. But I like how you tried to make it look like I was the guy fighting against Clarrett. That was nice of you.
