RB Maurice Clarett (B1G Freshman of the Year, National Champion)

"It's a joke" is the obvious meaning of what I said, yet you missed that too. :roll2:

You explained "hater" to me so I'll explain the joke to you:

You can love Mo all you want, but you cannot deny that he did some VERY STUPID things which hurt himself and the image of tOSU. Hence I was implying that someone who frequently does self-destructive things has a brain of mush. Do I really think his brain is mush? No, but it wouldn't be funny if I conceded this point.

I read the quote from his mom in which she is clearly attempting to say that Mo's getting mentally and physically prepared for the NFL, but I noted that what she ACTUALLY said was that his mind and body are getting in sync. Put that with the mind=mush part and you have an attempt at humor... aka A JOKE.

I am not now, nor have I ever been a "Mo hater", but I can take a joke. Here's another one:

"I'll side with him over you any day of the week." If we're playing football or arguing to the supreme court that's probably a good choice, but if we're playing chess... I'll kick his ass.

You may now have the last word as this is obviously important to you for some unknown reason and I could really care less.... I'm just bored and enjoy arguing. (Oh no... I've become Tibor!)

I prefer great Buckeye halfbacks to people who make jokes about them. I wonder why Maurice Clarett would want to do anything that would make OSU look good if that's the thanks he get. He hurt himself, he did not hurt you.

I think we all want great tailbacks at OSU. Eddie George was a great tailback on the field AND a great OSU ambassador off the field. He is someone that makes you proud and it isn't all football related. MoC was a great tailback on the field. Other than that, what else did he do to endear himself to the Buckeye Nation? Talk about going pro after one year? Lie about the value of items stolen from "his" vehicle? Lie to the OSU and NCAA investigators? You are correct that he eventually hurt himself but his actions caused a black eye for OSU nationally and that does in some way hurt everyone who loves the program.

I'm sick of hearing about how he made OSU look bad. If that is your criteria, people should post crap about Robert Reynolds and Steve Bellisari(among others) as much as they do about Maurice.

There's been much posted about Bellisari and Reynolds. The difference between them and Clarett is that MoC's problems NEVER go away.

I just laugh at every article in the paper about all this legal stuff, because if he had any sense he could just have played like any other gifted player that has every played college football, then enter the NFL. But, I guess some people are just on a higher level...

MoC has not done anything since last summer. Sure, he's in the news, but for his legal case, not for any crime he's commited or anything he's done to "hurt the reputation of OSU".

I hope after Bellisari's DUI, he did receive negative treatment on boards. He deserved it and that too did not make me proud. Not one of the finer moments for OSU football when the starting QB is arrested for DUI before a big game that had Big 10 championship implications not to mention his last home game. I'm sure his parents weren't too pleased.

As for Reynolds, it too was an act on the field that was caught by the camera. An act that similar acts to it happen all the time at the bottom of a pile. That by no way makes what he did acceptable. It too was not a shining moment for OSU football.

Two good examples that caused black eyes on the program. However, they were isolated incidents whereas MoC had a list of incidents. Most people allow for others to have at least one trangression. MoC had multiple ones.

Don't take what I post and twist it into that I'm a MoC hater. I am not.

As far as I can tell, Maurice Clarett did 3 things that were similar in scope to what Bellisari and Reynolds did.
1. cop problems
2. NCAA problems
So, 2 things are ok, 1 thing is not. 2 things makes you an object of constant, unrelenting anger and jokes, 1 thing makes you remain an upright Buckeye player. Whatever. You people can judge Maurice however the heck you want. But I don't see the logic behind it at all.

Maurice Clarett has a special level of venom directed against him that is completely beyond what any other player recieves. Not just a little bit more, a lot more.

He had more than the 2 that you listed Nixon. He also lied to OSU officials which must be considered separate from the NCAA stuff (since he lied to them too). He lied on a police report about the value of items stolen from "his" car. So that would be at least 2 more items which brings the list to a minimum of 4. And 4 is a lot more than 1!! I think that is how some people judge him; that is the logic some people use.

Again, 1 thing is not ok. Most people will forgive one mistake but 4 tends to become quite alot for many people. Also, by all accounts (Alvarez, Sorgi, etc) after Reynold's incident, he was truly remorseful for his actions. Humans generally have an easier time forgiving someone for a mistake if an honest and heartfelt apology is given. Last I knew, MoC hadn't done that on any of his at least 4 transgressions.

This is true and I hope you understand why. Not that you agree with it, but that you understand why there are so many that have the venom.

MoC does have much venom directed at him from all around the country. That has to be somewhat difficult on the young man. I truly wish him the best.

Of course we all wish him the best. I hope he is successful in the NFL.

It's just disappointing when you really look at it. I sure hope the NFL works for him, seeing as how he dropped out of OSU after winter quarter, which showed his one intention for ever being there...

And if we knew all the details of everything every OSU player ever did, you think some of them wouldn't have more than 1 incident either?

And what is the second new thing he did? You said lied to the cops...um, I mentioned that.

"Humans generally have an easier time forgiving someone for a mistake if an honest and heartfelt apology is given. Last I knew, MoC hadn't done that on any of his at least 4 transgressions."

How do you know if he apologized to Jim Tressel or Andy Geiger, or to the police? You have no clue. He did nothing to you, he does not owe you an apology. Robert Reynolds PHYSICALLY hurt somebody. I don't see how this can be equivicated with lying and passed off as better.

"This is true and I hope you understand why. Not that you agree with it, but that you understand why there are so many that have the venom. "

I don't understand why, and I never will. Maurice Clarett has not personally hurt any one of the people who are filled with this venom.

And I can't let that comment about dropping out after winter quarter just go by. He was declared eligible for the NFL draft. Why would he stay in school? It's not as if he was one quarter away from getting a degree like the seniors might be or anything.

EVERYONE THE APOCALYPSE IS UPON US, I AGREE WITH NIXON!!!!

GET OFF MAURICES BACK GEESH!!!

ok he is a stupid kid... so what? he chose to be a buckeye, he obviously isnt very bright, he obviously wasnt here to get a degree he wanted to use the university to get to the NFL.... kinda like how the university uses all of these kids to make millions of dollars!! lets see what did he do..

he got mad when the university wouldnt let him go to his friends funeral... wouldnt you be pissed too? and remember he is STILL A KID..

he lied about the stuff in the car, he didnt file a report so he wasnt even trying to cash in, so again so what?

he accepted money from a family friend!? if this whole system wasnt set up to exploit these athletes he woulnt have had to... and he is still a kid good lord... i like money too..

he talked about leaving after a year.. if half of these kids were good enough to be considered for that they would too.. its not loyalty that keeps all these kids here, some but not most.. its the fact that know they wouldnt get drafted..

and then he lied to the officials and investigators.. this is prolly his biggest mistake i guess.. and im not saying he was perfect, or deserves to be considered among the buckeye greats with eddie george and archie griffin, but i do think he is still a buckeye.. just pisses me off that everyone loved the kid when he was busy winning a national title for us, but now he wants his and everyone hates him...

he is an incredibly gifted athlete and not real bright.. but if you dont think the coaches knew what we were getting when we signed him you are kidding yourself.. so...
GOOD LUCK MAURICE, WIN YOUR CASE AND BECOME AND ALL-PRO BUCKEYE, WE STILL SUPPORT YOU!!!!
