And if we knew all the details of everything every OSU player ever did, you think some of them wouldn't have more than 1 incident either?
I think when you are ruled ineligible for one year, everyone will know. Last I heard, we didn't have anyone else ruled ineligible by the NCAA.
And what is the second new thing he did? You said lied to the cops...um, I mentioned that.
That's what you meant by cop problems. So he
1. Lied to police
2. Lied to OSU investigators
3. Lied to NCAA investigators
4. Violated NCAA rules which led to the lies in 2. and 3.
Ironically, if he hadn't lied to the police, then there would not have been the investigation that led to him lying to OSU and the NCAA.
How do you know if he apologized to Jim Tressel or Andy Geiger, or to the police? You have no clue. He did nothing to you, he does not owe you an apology. Robert Reynolds PHYSICALLY hurt somebody. I don't see how this can be equivicated with lying and passed off as better.
He may have apologized to them, he may not have. But Reynold's apology was public. Maybe, just maybe, on some level, Reynolds knew his actions was a black eye for the university and those associated with the university including the alumni. To me, that's speaks loudly about the level of maturity Reynolds has. And I think many feel that MoC lacks that level of maturity.
Did you ever play organized football? People do get PHYSICALLY hurt playing the game and sometimes it occurs in a pile, where anything goes. I do NOT believe what Reynolds did is acceptable, but stuff like that happens in a violent game.
And when a high profile person associated with my alma mater does something that is wrong (see MoC's list) and it casts my alma mater in a bad light, then that person has on some level done "something" to me.
I don't understand why, and I never will. Maurice Clarett has not personally hurt any one of the people who are filled with this venom.
I probably can't explain it to you since you said you never will understand, but what the hell, I'll type away. Mid-season his freshman year, he makes big news by thinking about leaving after one year. Then his shouting match with Spencer on the sidelines is caught on national TV during the Northwestern game. Then his behavior before the Fiesta Bowl about the funeral. (Recall there was MoC's version and Geiger's version). Then after the NC win, he just wanted to get home. Now I think many by this time were accepting that MoC maybe goes to the beat of a different drummer, but there was a certain fatigue with him. Then the theft from his car. Then the "story" about special treatment on tests. Then the investigation into the theft. Then the lies (police, OSU, and NCAA). By this time I think there were some folks who were simply weary of the negative press that followed MoC. It NEVER went away.
I am an alumnus and I supported MoC the whole time. I wanted him back mainly because I think the young man has some issues that possibly being around JT, he could have gained some important life skills. But I can tell you that I know many alumni who simply got weary of the continual never-ending saga and I think for them, that allowed bitterness to set in.
You probably still don't understand, but I can understand where the venom is coming from, even if I don't agree with it.
just pisses me off that everyone loved the kid when he was busy winning a national title for us, but now he wants his and everyone hates him
Soldier - Each item you chronicled alone isn't too bad (except the lying ones). There was more to the funeral story than what you stated, but that is irrelevant in this discussion. What you said (quoted above) is so true. In fact, how many of the people who truly hate MoC, would be cheering for him this fall if by some major flukes, he ended up back in the S&G?
