In fairness to Master, kid was coming off a partially torn Achilles tendon.
I’m going through rehab for my own torn Achilles. I can’t even imagine getting back as fast as he did, and competing in actual games. It’s something I kind of took for granted at time hearing about it.....now I’m blown away.
I’m hopeful with additional recovery time, his lateral ability goes to another level. Someone described his running as a guy who looks like they’re running on ice.....and I don’t really disagree, in terms of last year. But he showed flashes as a Freshman and some considered him the next best RB in Big 10 behind Dobbins, when Dobbins was a junior.
I love the kid, his character, and work ethic. I’m going to give him a clean skate going into 2021 season knowing he came off an injury that typically takes at least 6 months to recover from, and over a year to get back to where you were pre-injury.
I hear what you're saying, but Teague wasn't the primary RB last year, and when he did play his weakness shows up immediately, his lack of vision. A wide open hole, and Teague gets to the next level fast, but if the hole closes fast or is plugged, he has no moves or vision to get out of bad situations. You saw the difference in running styles when Sermon got going at the end of the season, he had the power or move to get past the first defender, and turn a no gain into at least 3-4yds. Teague would've been down for a loss, that has nothing to do with his injury. He still had some big runs, when the blocking was perfect. But the same issues that he's always had against elite teams, still exists. And that's why so many predict him not being the starter by mid season
