RB Jaamal Berry (Transfer to Murray State)

I think this quote is telling from the article. I don't think Berry will RS. If he does RS, it will be because of injury.

Boom Herron begs to differ. I dunno if JB will redshirt, but it's certainly possible at this point. Having said that, I don't think he would have it he'd have been healthy from the beginning.

Saw him on the sidelines today, didn't dress. No point in playing him and wasting a year of eligibility at this point unless it's completely necessary because of injuries.

I agree 100% today was the point of no return. I thought they were going to put him in to get a spark going on the offensive side of the ball.

Here's hoping I'm dead wrong and we get to see Berry this afternoon!!! :osu:

Chatting with a person in the know yesterday, I heard that JB had re-aggravated an injury, but it wasn't serious. He may be available next week....and I say we play him especially with Boom going down again. Boom seemed to have hurt his ankle again early in the game today against Wisky.....and we will need the depth at RB, especially one with the talent level of Jaamal.

Tress said in his presser that Berry might get work this week. He is back to full go in practice.

Honestly, I hope they just redshirt him. We are over the half way point and unless one of Martin or Hall gets hurt, I would prefer the redshirt to separate Hall and Berry. Plus it sounds like Saine and Herron will be back soon, so no use in burning a redshirt against New Mexico State imo.

Very, very interesting. With Herron and Saine dinged up, it makes sense to make sure you have at least 3 viable RBs for the tough 3 game stretch. Definitely shows that Tressel believes in Berry or Berry believes in Berry, or both.

You can't make him redshirt if he doesn't want to redshirt (edit: you could, but why?). I can't remember Tressel ever burning a redshirt this late into the year, so my guess is that Berry wants to play, was told he wouldn't be redshirted, or has bigger plans than OSU down the road.

With the slate coming up, you want all your weapons at your disposal. If Berry is a go and can help the team, I think you play him. There's still a lot to play for this season.

Agreed....Our season is the final 3 games. And if he's going to play in those, then you're definitely going to want him to get his first touches against the NMS as compared to the other 3.

Doc Tressel said before the season that Berry is an extremely talented back that would compete for playing time. It's been my belief this entire time that Jordan Hall looking this good means that we are REALLY in for a treat with Jamaal. Hope we get him suited up and ready to go.

Looking at it from another angle, maybe the coaches recognize next year as our title run year and want to get his feet wet this year before throwing him out into the fire next season. We are going to need a lot of weapons now and in the future. Experience has been an issue this year on offense and dealing with that issue now instead of down the road could pay dividends. Just a thought.
