Your guess is certainly as good as mine as to what The Vest is going to do tomorrow but if he didn't play vs Navy I am not sure you throw a freshman kid in a game vs USC.....

I don't think he goes in for any kind of load obviously but I could see Tress picking his spots for him (hopefully)

Jaamal Berry was Joe McKnight on tOSU scout team according to Coach Tressel's radio show the other day, any chance we see our #4 tommorow?
If he's spending time being Joe McKnight, then I'm not sure how much time he spent this week being Jaamal Berry. I don't think he'll see a whole lot of time this week. Less than a half dozen plays, IMO.

I for one think he held the kids out of Navy so that he can play them against USC to maximum effect.
If that's the case, then I really hate that idea. You want to get your young guys acclimated to playing in front of 105,000+ before you have them do it with an elite program coming to town.

I agree completely. If a guy was healthy and with no doghouse issues and didn't play against navy. He most likely won't see the field this Saturday.

The running back position is different from a QB or a safety, it's not as if they have to make many decisions over the course of a play. I think Berry gets snaps. Limited snaps, yes, but snaps none the less.

Thats about what I expect. A True freshman with Boom and Zoom in the lineup, no way he gets more touches than that.

I certainly think so. Tressel held out the two freshman running backs last game; I wouldn't be surprised for us to see one of them tomorrow night. My money is on Berry, and if he's in the game look for the shovel pass and delayed screen play. They were running those plays with Berry a ton in the practices that I saw.
Pete Carroll thanks you for that information. :roll1:

Okay well how about this...he might have held them out so he can play them against USC without them racking up too many snaps (1 game versus 2) as to where they can still be redshirted?
If he's good enough to get on the field vs. USC, he's not redshirting.

Just as a heads up - there are people with the government who monitor message boards looking for posts like this.

DEA agents could be at your door any moment.

They play a single snap and their redshirt is burned, unless they get injured later and the injury occurs early enough in the season that they don't paly in more than 20% of the scheduled games. Once you play, an early-enough injury is the only way to get a redshirt.

BB73 edit - they changed the % from 20 to 30% a few years back

Fair enough, thank you for the clarification. Sorry for the wildly inconceivable ideas.

I still think Berry gets a few plays this weekend
