RB Jaamal Berry (Transfer to Murray State)

An online drug re-hab coarse? I would guess his progress will be closely monitored by the coaches and staff. The kids life is more important than football. Here's hoping he keeps clean.

Let's hope the staff doesn't monitor too closely. FSU got in trouble when the staff got too involved with those on line courses in the state of Florida.

assuming he handles his business the right way this sitation could actually turn out to his advantage. familiarity tends to work in ones favor.

Berry good
Tressel was impressed by freshman tailback Jaamal Berry from Miami. He is listed as third string behind Daniel Herron and Brandon Saine.

"Ooh, man, he looks quick to me," Tressel said. "That's what the kids were all saying from the summer (workouts): 'Hey, wait until you see (No.) 4, he's got some burst.'

"But we all know that the key to being a running back is how tough are you and can you do it day after day after day and can you pass protect and can you take those whacks that you take? But (so far), I'd give him a thumbs-up, that's for sure."

Five younger Buckeyes to track after watching one Ohio State practice

4. RB Jaamal Berry, Fr. - He's out there and he's living up to his billing.
"Oh man, he looks quick to me, just the few times I saw him out there," Tressel said Tuesday. "That's what all the kids say from the summer, 'Wait till you see 4. He's got that burst.' But we all know the key to being a running back is how tough are you and can you do it day after day and can you take those whacks you take. But based on [wearing] shorts, I'd give him a thumbs up."

Pretty impressive interview for a true freshman.

OSU Athletics has a robust counselor program, but they try not to get in the way. They let the freshman be freshman, but might mention something if the midterm reports come back poorly or if an OTF incident gets back to them (I was an athlete in a minor sport.. and had a little grade problem early).

The biggest problem in the fall for most out of state students is home sickness. There was a malaise in the first year or so for most of the out of state students that I saw. I think the concentration and commitment that being on the FB team requires helps a lot (and the study table doesn?t hurt the GPA.).

Good Luck Jaamal. :osu:
