Was Jaamal supposed to be coming to OSU with Vlad in the next few weeks, or am I just crazy? Could've sworn he was coming soon, as well as Vlad.

The visit with Vlad is a non-official visit.
No firm date for the summertime visit ... and it might not happen at all. Even if Jaamal and Vlad don't make it back to Columbus this summer, I wouldn't sweat it too much.

just watched his video as well as Carlos' and yup... He's fast.

Do we need another running back though? Obviously with a talent like Berry you find room.

Need? I don't know. But it'll be nice to have the power in Hyde, the speed in Berry, and then a versatile back in Hall. Three solid, different RBs will be very nice when our current stable graduates.

In all likelihood, we lose two RBs following this season, and we didn't get a single one in last year's recruiting class. That leaves two returning scholarship tailbacks after this season, and one (Saine) could be gone after his junior year. So yes, RB is a huge need position.

Not to mention Saine needs to show he's a feature back rather than a mismatch. Jordan Hall is unlikely to be a true RB either.

I think Jordan Hall will be the next Mo Wells type player(hopefully as committed to the Buckeyes as Wells is with a little more success). I do think we'll need another pure running back. I see Lamaar Thomas from last year being primarily a slot receiver. Maybe a touch or two out of the backfield.

Hey Jwins: I have heard a several people say that. Knowing OSU does not offer token 'ships where do you see him fitting in. I have seen him 4-5 times in person and I think he is a very underrated member of this class and can see him adding 15 lbs and being an every down back. Where do you think he fits into OSU's plans?

I think Berry's explosive skills and all-around package could diminish Hall's role a bit, but I see Hall & Thomas arriving for similar roles. I think you'll see them use both much like they used Teddy on the underneath plays (screens, reverses, handoffs), except hopefully with more success than Ted (who was dynamite downfield but very mediocre on most running plays).

I think Hall and Thomas will both see plays at RB & WR, but not truly fit into either position. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing either, I just don't see them as justification for not taking another RB or WR respectively.

It's a meager comparison, but the best I can think of would be how MSU ran their offense last year...

Hyde = Caulcrick
Berry = Ringer (w/ more size & feature back ability)
Hall = Thomas (ignoring the size difference).

Caulcrick was the power back, Ringer the feature back and home-run hitter, and Thomas the Athlete moved all around to create misdirection and mismatches. Major difference though is I don't see Hall being a feature WR like Thomas, the comparison stops at the versatile sweeps, pitches, screens and other ways they got Thomas the ball with room to operate.

I think Hall's biggest advantage will be his chemistry with Pryor. A big part of the spread option game is the timing between the QB and RB. While I don't think we will run a straight spread option with Pryor, it would be foolish not to make it part of the gameplan. I would think that Tressel will try to mold Pryor into a Troy Smith senior year type of QB, a great all around player, but for 09 I can see a more run heavy plan. Having an RB that Pryor is already comfortable with, and a good athlete in his own right, will only be a benefit. Saine, Herron, Hyde, and Berry (if he commits) are well suited for traditional RBs, Hall and Thomas will be great for the RB/slot spread attack.

From BG....Will visit Florida, Tennessee, Auburn & South Carolina with a few other Florida recruits soon. Says he is also trying to plan a trip to Ohio State sometime next month. Says again that he is not worried about Carlos Hyde committing, as he knows he will have to compete for a spot no matter where he goes. Does not have a timetable for a decision.
