John Burroughs’ standout running back Ezekiel Elliott took the handoff on the first play from scrimmage and rumbled 65 yards for the first of his two touchdowns. On Elliott’s first touchdown run he actually started toward the right sideline, cut back and raced to the left sideline shedding would-be tacklers all the while. Westminster’s defense was at a loss for a way to contain the Ohio State-bound tailback.

Welcome to Scribbles of the Scribe, where STLhighschoolsports.com columnist David Kvidahl runs down what?s making news in high school sports.
1. What a week to be Zeke
John Burroughs standout running back Ezekiel Elliott couldn?t have gotten a week off at a better time. The No. 1 team in the STLhighschoolsports.com small-schools rankings, Burroughs has a bye week this weekend. So the Bombers are free to get some rest and heal up.
Elliott, the area's top scorer with 25 touchdowns, has travel plans. The Ohio State recruit is headed to Columbus, Ohio to be treated to Homecoming Weekend. Colleges always go out of their way to lavish love, attention, praise and one-only-knows-whatever-else on their highly-touted recruits. You better believe that Elliott will be getting the royal treatment during his weekend on campus.
