RB Erik Haw (official thread)

Interesting analysis I provided over on BN (I know I was like slumming)

Totally agree. I always feel that a team should be developing and have 3 good backs get carries. What most fans do not understand is that teams that have running style quarterbacks they are inessence the #2 RB. To make my point look at OSU - #1 RB - Pittman (19.9 carries/game), #2 RB - Smith (12.4 carries/game), and #3 RB is Wells (8.6 car/game). In contrast, look at Michigan with traditional dropback QB. #1 RB - Hart (20.3 carries/game), #2 RB - Grady (12.2 carries/game), and #3 RB is Jackson (7.7 car/game) and now realize that Henne is not stealing the carries from RB. There are only so many carries in a game and if your QB is taking some then you have trouble getting your #2 and #3 RB carries. PSU is similar to OSU with running QB.

Haw will stay

Freshman running back Erik Haw of Independence High School said he will stay at OSU.

Rumors of a Haw transfer had been circulating. He lost a preseason competition for the starting job to sophomore Antonio Pittman and was bypassed by true freshman Maurice Wells for the No. 2 spot. Chris Wells of Akron has committed to the 2006 recruiting class, which could further hinder Haw’s chances to play.

Haw saw limited action in four games, with 61 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries and 6 yards on two receptions.

"I feel really if you start something you should finish it, wherever you’re at," he said. "God wouldn’t put me here at Ohio State for me to change course. "I will reap the rewards of being patient, I feel like the time will come when I’ll get my chance, and transferring is definitely out of the question."

Haw will be transferring to UCLA. We've been sitting on this intel for a little while (pre-BN $ thread).

Sorry to see him go, but the OSU backfield will be very crowded through his senior year. Good luck to Erik at UCLA (great place to live, and defenses to run through :p).

Best of luck to Erik. He should do very well for UCLA. He certainly has the tools, hopefully he can put it all together in L.A.

I wonder what UCLA fans think of this addition to the team? I wish EH the best of luck and hope he gets a chance to shine- unless of course we should meet up with him in a Bowl Game. Its a shame he didn't get the opportunity he wanted, but transferring is probably his best option of playing time. Good Luck!!

I guess God had a change in plans
