RB Eddie George - (1995 Heisman winner, CFB HOF, 4x Pro Bowl, HC Tenn St)

Bringing in a veteran coach like Jackson will surely help the former Ohio State Buckeyes/Tennessee Titans star running back fill in those experience gaps. With 31 years of coaching experience at both the collegiate and professional coaching levels, the 55-year-old play caller will serve as a guide for the rookie coach.

Really a great hire for Eddie. Actually Hue Jackson is undoubtedly better qualified for the head coaching job than Eddie. However, I'm guessing that Jackson just looks at this position as an "interim" position until a NFL team offers him a position, etc.

No NFL team are looking for Hue anymore. He flamed out with the Browns and even the Bungles wouldn't bring him back to ride the Marvin Lewis led Titanic in his last year. He should enjoy CFB, his name and past will be welcomed in college moreso than the NFL.

You severely underestimate the NFLs love for recycling old failed NFL coaches

Ohio State legend Eddie George has found his way back into the win column in college football, and this time as a head coach. The first-year Tennessee State coach led the Tigers to their first win of the year on Saturday via a 41-7 route of Kentucky State, and that prompted George to receive a shoutout over the weekend from ESPN college football analyst and former Ohio State teammate Joey Galloway.

"Eddie George, we need a Tennessee State helmet, please, because congratulations — Eddie George gets his first coaching win," Galloway said Sunday on ESPN's College Football Final as he awarded George an honorary helmet sticker." Yes, Eddie George is coaching Tennessee State against Kentucky State. Congratulations. Now send us a helmet, please."

George and Galloway were both part of the Buckeyes offense in the early-to-mid 1990s. Galloway was a top 10 pick in the 1995 NFL Draft, and George a first-round pick the following the spring in 1996 after winning the Heisman at Ohio State in 1995. Galloway bounced around the league from 1995-2010, while George spent all but one season with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans organization before retiring after the 2004 season.

Former NFL and Ohio State running back Eddie George took over Tennessee State in April and is 5-5 through his first season as a head coach. His performance has caught the eye of one FBS opening, as Akron is reportedly interested in the possibility of hiring George, according to FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman.

Pete Thamel, in his most recent coaching carousel update Saturday, outlined some names that could be connected to the Zips.

“Look for an established, veteran presence here as this program can’t afford to gamble on upside,” Thamel wrote. “Head coaching experience at the FBS level will be a premium. Purdue DC Brad Lambert, Arkansas DC Barry Odom, Ohio State assistant head coach Tony Alford, William & Mary coach Mike London, Ohio State OC Kevin Wilson, Cincinnati DC Mike Tressel and Dolphins assistant Charlie Frye are among the names.”

As per Arth's contract, the University of Akron will be on the hook for 75% of the final two years of his five-year deal. He was due $425,000 each of the next two seasons, which means he will be owed $637,500.

Just sayin': Tony Alford ($618,000) and Kevin Wilson ($1,400,000) are currently making more at Ohio State and have more long term job security that they would have at Akron.
