RB Daniel "Boom" Herron (Official Thread)

Wow, the guy starts 3 games in Beanies absence and ends up on page 4 with Beanie's return. Seems unfair.

Totally without a doubt Booms best game as a Buckeye this past week. He was explosive in and out of his cuts and was decisive with where he went with the ball. The bust up the middle down to the 1 was lightning but his option pitch to give us a short 4th down, and then picking it up the next play, was just beautiful. Great job Boom, stay ready to give Beanie a breather from time to time.

He played well when he was n there. That play where he fought off the tacklers to get the first down was just him bustin ass. He's a good backup for Beanie, and on kickoff returns he at least gets up to full speed and runs hard.

Anyone else thought it could and should have been a penalty. I mean it's not like he was that close to the ball was blind sided and it was helmet to helmet.

After watching the replay I definetly thought so to. NCAA needs to put something in like the NFL does with helmet to helmet hits. There would be no fines of course, but a suspension would be a must. Big hits are nice and exciting to see, but not when kids have to go off the field like that. I think that same kid who knocked Boom out was also involved in another helmet ot helmet collision when Dane fumbled. Hell just look at Boldin from the Arizona Cardinals, he broke bones in his face last weekend

In the Auburn-Vandy game I saw a particularly vicious facemask where it was obvious the defensive player was using the facemask as a weapon. It would have been fitting IMO for the defender to have been ejected from the game.

Suspension should be an option (arguably Rob Reynolds should have been the recipient of one a few years back).

Get well soon Boom and keep that head on a swivel. I agree that the NCAA needs to look into protecting the defenseless players a little more thoroughly. One of these days there is going to be a bad injury on one of these where a kid gets blindsided and hurts his neck, back or really hurts his head. If it is part of the play, and does not involve helmet to helmet contact, then it is just part of the unfortunate parts of the game. But if it is an unnecessary hit or does involve helmet to helmet, then penalize it.

The kids are getting too big with too much speed creating to much potential for harm.

That hit was vicious but it was within the rules. At first, I thought it could have possibly been a pass interference call considering Pryor had still been behind the line of scrimmage and Boom was downfield as a receiver.
It would have been nice to get number 12 in the open field to have been run him over for some pay back. I think in the end, we got the last laugh anyways.

As soon as I saw the replay on TV last night, I thought it was a cheap shot and that a penalty should have been called. In addition to the helmet to helmet contact Boom really wasn't involved in the play anymore and, in fact, I believe the play was almost over. I thought it was a pretty cheap shot and officials have called a lot lesser hits like that penalties.
