Be water my friend.
I've seen him play, but it's very difficult (for me anyway) to try and translate that over to how he will do against top flight competition in the Big 10.
Running back is said to be the easiest transisition from high school to college as far as actually running the ball, but where most backs struggle is with the protection calls. Can he pass block? Can he make the necessary reads? To a back of his caliber running the ball will be no problem, it's the mental part that most struggle with.
That said, I would highly doubt that Wells beats out Pittman for the starting job unless he comes in and runs like Herschel Walker, and even then he has Coach Tressel's loyalty to contend with. He'll definitely get some playing time next year, but I don't know that we see him start as the featured back until (possibly) his junior year.

(best weed smoking smiley) JT wont give the job away to either one of them. The question was aimed more is Wells going to be able to walk on to campus and take the job of a 1000 yd rusher who played in one the toughest schedules? Sorry for not phrasing it that way the first time. I know Wells is running all over other highschoolers, but is he going to be an impact player as a true freshman?
