Is it just wishful thinking for me to hope that this might be a fakeout from Jim Tressel, saying that Beanie won't play?

I see that a lot of people are commenting on the way that it's been handled by JT, ie his daily updates and whatnot. When is the last time we had one of the star players, a face for the team, go down before such a big game? Of course there will be daily updates, if it weren't regarding Beanie then it would be about how our waterboy benches more than USC's waterboy (which I don't doubt).
Perhaps Beanie has been telling JT how great he feels during the week, and when JT sat down with the medical team he realized what was really at stake--a young man's health and future successes.
The fact of the matter is that there are way too many other parties who are involved at this point for JT to be playing information poker as being suggested.
If this were just a matter of holding cards close to the vest he would not have been forthcoming with information over the last two weeks. Frankly, the amount of information that he's provided has been uncharacteristically forthcoming.
Besides... The "he's playing / he's not playing" game to only have him play in the end would seriously mess with the Vegas gang. That's a group of folks that I'd personally not want to screw with.
He's not going to play. Boom is going to take over. We'll see how the rest of our O does (personally, I think that they'll step up). We'll see some plays that we've not seen all year, perhaps some that date back to those that were in the playbook for the last TSUN game? The D-line will get pressure on the QB, the DE's will contain outside runs. We've got two starters added back to the mix in the secondary to shut down the passing game.
Guys, aside from Beanie being out, I've got to ask, what's not to like about our chances?
Have faith. Have faith in OUR TEAM. Have faith in OUR COACHES.

Tressel said Wells was not ruled out by the team's medical staff; he made the call.
"Typically, the doctors will (say), 'Here's my opinion,' but it's all on how you feel," Tressel said. "So I just think, as I listen to the doctors and as I think about the situation, I think a decision had to be made.
BuckeyeXtra - The Columbus Dispatch : Tressel says he won't play Wells
Had to be a tough desicion by Tress, I find it hard to believe that with whats on the line and you know Beanie wants to play plus the Medical staff not ruling him out, that Tressel would come out the night before and decide not to play him. Why, if the medical staff didnt rule him out would Tress not play him?
Kurt Sexington;1258395; said:I think Tressel is an honest, upstanding guy. He has never struck me as sleazy or underhanded. If he comes out and tells the media Beanie won't play, I believe him. The guy just doesn't seem to be the type to lie to the fans and the media to gain a minimal tactical advantage.

When a player is "medically cleared," doesn't that mean the doctors have determined that the player can't do any further harm to himself by playing? Maybe I'm wrong by that, but if that is the case, and Wells clearly wants to play, I don't understand not letting him at least try to play. Color me confused.
