RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

No, No, and Hell no. It'll take some time but I believe the Cardinals staff will finally get it. Their fans want to see more Beanie, and if he hangs onto the ball, the PT will follow, its thats simple.

One guy on a Cards forum called him "The Bean" - that's about as close to an insult as your gonna get.

Besides, if the Browns couldn't get him I'd have our organization PAY Cincy not to have him - I sure as hell don't want to see that stiff arm on any Cleveland player.

I think they are actually using him just fine so far actually. Hightower did well and as a Buckeye fan, it's hard for us to fathom anyone starting him over Beanie, but Beanie is a rookie. I have no doubt he will be the go to guy in the run game, maybe as soon as next week. But he hasn't exactly been perfect. He has fumbled a bit and has also not been stellar in pass blocking. Good news is that I think those are fixable shortcomings that will get some major work in the off season. Keep in mind that Beanie was hurt much of pre season. He's going to get his time. I think he's in a good offense with tons of weapons and they will start to get him around 20-25 touches a game.
All that said, why the fuck do they give Hightower the ball inside the 10? You've got a power back for crying out loud, use him at the goal line!

Well all personal preferences aside I think he would fit very well in Cincy's offense. And with personal preferences considered, I'd love to see that stiff arm on some Cleveland players. :tongue2:

over 700 yards despite being severely under-utilized. Great player, and hopefully will end up somewhere better suited for his talent.

He will play more when he learns the pass protects. Hightower is an elite pass protector from the RB position. Beanie got Kurt concussed by blowing an assignment a couple weeks ago.

There is no conspiracy aimed at holding Beanie down in Arizona. When he does everything the backs are expected to do in that system, he will play the majority of the snaps.

Arizona has been in the lower half of the league in rushing the past few seasons because they haven't committed to the run. Which is understandable when you have Fitz and Boldin. In my opinion Beanie's touches have nothing to do with his pass protection, fumbles, etc... its a combo of lack of commitment to the run and a few reps going to a pass catching rb. As soon Arizona wants to become a more effective running team in philosophy then Beanie will reap the rewards.

When you miss blocks, allow the most important player on the team concussed and fumble the football--you are going to lose carries. There is no doubt about it. No coach is going to be SO dedicated to the pass to take away carries from a guy averaging nearly 5 yds a carry for any other reason. It is a testament to his talent that he is getting as many carries as he is. Once Beanie shores up in those areas it is hard to see Hightower getting much substantive work.

I can't envision a scenario in which it would happen, but I wouldn't mind seeing Brady Quinn take one.

There's a reason why the Cardinals have been the weakest francise in NFL history. Cincinnati will sure give 'em a run for the money, but they still own last place.

1. 2009 - 27th in rushing, 11th in passing
2008 - 32nd in rushing, 2nd in passing
2007 - 29th in rushing 5th in passing.

Mr. Whisenhunt was hired in 07 I do believe. Those stats tell me that either he's not focused on the run (my initial statement) or they suck at it (which means he's not focused on correcting it after 3 seasons).

2. Hightower - 5 fumbles in 2009 (4 lost)
Beanie - 4 fumbles in 2009 (2 lost)

3. Mr. Glass was tackled from behind in Week 11. Beanie did miss the blitzer but old Kurt was rolling out and was tackled from behind. He even completed the pass. Besides that incident I haven't heard the boo birds complaining about his blocking. Although that could be a factor, Beanie has never been a devastating blocker and really needs to step that up.

I agree that some of the things you mentioned might be a small factor, however, I maintain that Beanie's productivity is directly related to a team thats comfortable airing the ball out rather than pounding it. Hopefully last weeks scheme wasn't an aberration.
