RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

This is just a site I stumbled upon, but I know most of you here are Browns or Bengals fans.

2009 NFL Mock Draft

Cincinnati - Chris Wells, RB, Ohio St.
A born and bred Ohioan, Wells gets to say home at the professional level. The Bengals need help rebuilding the offense, and he is a nice start.

Cleveland - Malcolm Jenkins, CB, Ohio St.
Jenkins has to be at the top of the Browns board and if hes available, its an easy pick. Jenkins should go higher on draft day, but the Browns would be very happy to see him on the board.

Am I missing something or is Laurinaitis not on that list?

ESPN - Ohio State Buckeyes' Chris Beanie Wells undecided about NFL draft

Wells says he's undecided about draft

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Ohio State star Chris "Beanie" Wells isn't ready to say whether the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl will be his last game for the Buckeyes.

"I personally feel like I haven't done enough at Ohio State, the things I wanted to accomplish here, to move on to the next level," the junior running back said Thursday.

Asked if that meant he was leaning toward staying at Ohio State for another season, Wells said: "I don't want to say I'm leaning toward staying or I'm leaning toward going. All I'm saying is I do want to be the best Buckeye to ever come through here."

All I can say is WOW. I like that last line that I put. I'm not getting my hopes up but I'm glad that he's thinking about possibly coming back. College is something you can only do for a short period of time, I hope he's enjoyed every moment, and possibly can enjoy his senior year as well. Good luck to you Beanie, in whatever you decide!!

we've never heard this before from a junior about to play their last game.... virtually nobody says they are gone when they still have games left to play.

Part of me has to wonder how much influence James and Malcolm are having on Beanie. They both wanted to leave tOSU as Buckeye legends, and I think they've both accomplished that. They had a drive that superseded the money and the fear of injury. Sounds like Beanie may have gotten a taste of that, after seeing what those two did with their level of play and leadership in their final year. I still think he goes to the NFL. And, I still think he should go for many reasons. But, as many have said, if he stays around for another year of domination, I won't shed too many tears.

I guess it could depend on where he's going to go in the draft. There is no way to tell until that day I suppose. He could definitely improve his draft status by coming back for another year. Or he could blow his knee out in practice next August.

But what is the money difference between a #11-#15 pick and a top 5 pick? I'm asking because I have no idea.

I'm not sure he's a top 10 pick right now, but I could be wrong.

Detroit picks first and they won't draft him with the top pick. St. Louis (Steven Jackson), KC (Larry Johnson, but he wants out), Seattle (Julius Jones), Cleveland (maybe, but I doubt it), Cincy (Cedric Benson finished strong and they have so many more pressing needs), Oakland (McFadden, Fargas), JAX (MJ Drew), Green Bay (Ryan Grant), SF (Frank Gore), Buffalo (Marshawn Lynch), Denver (They all got hurt, but they aren't really in need of RBs), Washington (Clinton Portis), New Orleans (Reggie Bush and Deuce McAllister), Houston (Steve Slaton), San Diego (LT), NY Jets (Thomas Jones), Chicago (Matt Forte), Tampa Bay (Cadillac Williams), Detroit (again, maybe here), Arizona (maybe).

Shonn Green just announced he's coming out. He could go ahead of Beanie as there is a lot of hype surrounding him right now. Beanie could be looking at not being picked until late in the first round. He does have a history of being hurt which could scare teams.

With a strong showing against Texas Beanie could vault into that top 10 or even top 5 area I guess.

Who knows? The kid definitely says all the right things!!!

he's convinced me.

that he's gone.

If he doesn't announce right after the Fiesta Bowl, and if I collect on my vbet for the game...i'll vbet he stays, if you're willing to.

There is such a short window of opportunity for running backs in the NFL. It would be selfish for any of us to wish that he returns. It's definitely his time.

It's not selfish to wish that he chooses to stay. If that's what he wants to do, then how is it selfish for me to want that?

I don't think its selfish either, but if someone wants to say its selfish... then count me as selfish as they come!

GO BUCKS!! GO BEANIE!! Run over the longhorns in 4 days, come back for '09, help us compete for a National Championship, win a Heisman Trophy, and rewrite the Buckeye record books with your name at the top!!!
