RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

The way I look at it, Beanie got off to a horrible start last season, barely played in some games (4 carries against Kent or Akron?), was banged up, and still put up 1600. He really didn't hit his stride until the second half of the season. I think he was averaging around 175 yds/gm after Penn St. 175 yds/gm x 13 games = Heisman for Beanie.

Quick and sloppy analysis: for Beanie to reach 2000 yds, if you take 6ypc average (just .1 higher than last year), he would need 25-26 touches per game. I don't think that's out of the question. The only games last year where we really ran him like a mule were wisky and UM. The rest of the year, I thought he was underutilized. Now I'm convinced, 2500 yds, Heisman, and he gets elected vice president 2 1/2 weeks before the big game. Barry and Beanie in '08!

Does the bowl game count toward career statistics? I'm just curious. If not, over 12 games at 25 carries per game he'd need to average 6 2/3 YPC, which is pretty crazy. Not saying he can't do it, but it would be rough. At 30 touches per game, he'd need 5.56 YPC. A little more manageable, but a heavy load.

We need Beanie to explode out of the gate if we want him to get "the stiff arm" That was the only thing holding him back from a complete monster year last year was the first 2 or 3 games.

Agreed. Beanie did not look good until the 2nd half vs. Wash. I noticed especialy because of a friend who said that Beanie should move to FB after his fumbles in '06. Beanie flipped the switch last year and will be ready on 8/30.

Bottom line is he's the best back in college football this season and others will be gunning for him. If you cant stop Beanie this season, or at least slow him down alot, you've got no chance to win. When Beanie romps this season we will romp as a team.

Boeckman will cut down his mistakes and our defense is going to be flat nasty! Give it to Beanie all day every day and watch the wins and enemies pile up!
