RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

I find it amazing that Beanie's yards per carry average is higher than Antonio's (5.3 to 4.8) when Beanie has basically only seen short yardage situations all year.

Don't get me wrong... I still think Antonio is the better back, but Beanie sure is going to be good after another year of tutelage.

The back up having a better ypc than the starter happens a lot. the starter goes against a fresher defense. Beanie got about 80 of his yards after pitt sat down.

When looking at those numbers don't forget about blocking. The best RB has limited value if he can't pick up a blitz. The film will tell Michigan if the kid knows the schemes and if he doesn't they will load the box when he is in the game.

I think it's pretty impressive as well. I saw on BN's that he's rushing for 6.1 ypc when he gets double digit touches.

NIU - 10 for 50 yards
PSU - 15 for 84
MSU - 12 for 53
IU - 10 for 65
Minne - 15 for 90
NW - 11 for 99

Maybe in A game, but you generally don't find many backups with 100 carries that are outrushing the starter.

Beanie's TD run today was awesome in so many ways. Not only was it a great athletic play in a huge game, but it puts all of the negative attention in the dust and puts him in the spotlight as one of the heros who stepped up on saturday. His confidence has got to be up light years from what it has been the last few weeks, and hopefully this will be the turn of the tide of his career, and that he will bank in on all of his potential and become the next great Buckeye RB.

That was as AWESOME a run I've seen by any of our Bucks all season :yow1:. I put that move right up there with Gonzo's and Troy's signature TD's this season (Gonzo "cut back" vs. Iowa and Troy "juke" running TD vs. ???)...absolutely SICK !

I think that run is just going to boost his confidence to where he takes his game to the next level.

He has been a very good short yardage back, but in the bowl game and on into next season I think he is going to become more of option 1B instead of being the option 2.

Another thing I noticed was that Beanie was doing a pretty damn good job blocking after picking up some blitzes. He's gonna be a lot of fun to watch the next couple of years and the thought of him and Pitt back again next year is amazing.
