RB Carlos "El Guapo" Hyde (Official Thread)

Gotta give credit to Carlos after I've been hard on him recently. My main complaint with him was his vision but that seems to not be a problem anymore. He is hitting the hole with some serious anger and really looking like a good back.

Boy, for his class, I've got few issues with his performance or vision. Maybe I didn't pay close enough attention earlier in the year... But if the kid puts up those numbers with only so-so vision, imagine what he'll do with some extra game reps.

As he stands, he's my fav back since Beanie... So, could be a bit biased in my assessment.

I keep harping on it, but I feel really badly for Carlos and the others who had to take a back seat to the Tatoo Crew.

Luke did many good things this year but that whole situation was handled badly, IMO. From the administration on down I might add.

disagree, it was clear once those players came back, we got a spark, Boom was the best runner this season, the only thing they mishandled was using Hall in goaline situations imo, but I had no problem with Boom getting majority of carries

Boom was definitely the best runner this season and he gave our offense a spark. Carlos should have been used more in goal line and short yardage situations but practice must have shown the Coaches that Hall or Herron were better for the situation. Would have liked Hyde getting some more touches though.

Carlos Hyde had the highest "average yards per carry" (5.4) on the team this year, see link:

http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/stats/football/2011/stats.pdf

Early on he was getting the carries; however, he also had some "fumble problems". My guess is that the coaches just didn't have the confidence in him holding on to the ball (in a close game and all the games were close) that they had with Herron & Hall. Next season (if he learns to hold on th the ball) he could easily be the MAIN MAN at RB. Neddless to say, Braxton Miller will be the MAIN MAN at QB.
