RB Brandon "Zoom" Saine (official thread)

Carlos Hyde baby haha..... Anyways gosh I feel bad about saying this because I feel like I pick on the guy but if you watch his TD run he stops running when he has contact coming his way. He's got to learn to just lower them pads and continue at full speed because he nearly stops in his tracks when he gets to the LOS
He kept his legs driving in the redzone today when he met contact from what I saw.

yeah thats not a problem but i'm talking bout using his speed to hit the holes hard. He's a strong guy and keeps those legs pumping but he runs and the slows before contact. If he ran full speed into some contact who knows they may miss or bounce off but since he's usually slowing down he's easier to catch. He's such a hard player to get a read on... I'm just waiting to see him break a run for 70 yards so I can finally see that speed we hear of but he hasn't even come close (since washington) really. I have no idea how to best utilize brandon really... Not an inside guy really? I'd like to see him just run to the edges and run his 217 pound body into some DB's to pick up some yards but well there's a reason I don't wear a sweater vest and get paid 4 mil a year haha.

I agree.. this is the year Saine has to prove whether he can be a RB or if he is just a matchup problem. (I think Jwins said this first)

Saine ran okay this weekend but does look like he is not 100% as far as a burst of speed or looking like he is running hard. Herron clearly made more of an impact this season so far.

It is hard to get a read on Saine for sure, seems to have good hands so maybe try to get him the ball on swing passes or on a curl from the slot.

He must be hurt. Otherwise he would be getting more playing time than Mo Wells. I still see flashes of what Mo can do, like hitting the end in a nano second and picking up about 25 and a first down, but mostly its Mo getting smacked at the line of scrimmage. Don't know if that's a case of something Mo can't do or something the line fails to do. Any coaches on board with some wisdom to share?

This is where is performs the best IMO. Remember the Wheel route from last year, it went for big yards against LSU. Then again he could just be running up the middle in this vanilla offense.

Tressel only serves vanilla to the YSU's and OU's of college football. I believe we can expect to see HOLY CRAP WHERE WAS THAT LAST WEEK!!!111!!1!! served a couple of times to USC... and it wouldn't surprise me that at least one of those was dished out by Brandon. Why give away your best flavors to those that don't warrant it?

like those fly routes we saw against LSU... and those rumors of him practicing with the WR during camp... he hasn't lined up at WR yet this season, if I'm not mistaken...

Lets hope we see this a few times with one to the house. I like vanilla but now it's time for the chocolate sauce, sprinkles, nuts, whipped cream and cherry! Getting hungry!:oh:

:io: MMMM ice cream sundae for breakfast, mom would be so proud of me:tongue2: I look forward to seeing Saine's abilities let out of the cage, get him in the open field and let the 220lb speed demon go.

Saine does have good football speed...I recall him flying down the sideline at Washington last year. However, he doesn't seem 100% and I thought the same thing on that kick return...he just isn't going full go and I think that injury has to be lingering.

With the injury it may be more mental than physical..

He seemed so different the first few games last season when he was hitting the holes hard. He just hasn't seemed the same since the injury after Wash last year. I'd sure love to see him start hitting his stride again. That TD run at Wash last year was a thing of beauty...he turned the corner and it was "see ya later."
