RB Brandon "Zoom" Saine (official thread)

I read it as well and it sure seems credible but that makes Tressel's comments odd since he said he is questionable. Why not just say he is out (at least for this game). It's not like he could have surgery today and play tomorrow.

The decision for surgery was probably made after JT's statement from yesterday. No need to speculate on what JT said.

IF it is season ending i believe they could still redshirt him????

A medical resdhirt would be available, since he's only played in 3 games, and they're all in the first half of the season. But that wouldn't be an issue unless he's going to play for tOSU in 2011 or later.

You would have to be optimistic in that if the injury did indeed occur in practice before the Washington game and he played as well as he did, his recovery time should be fairly short and that the 3-4 week estimate should be accurate.

Saine is out
We have just confirmed that RB Brandon Saine will not play Saturday against Northwestern.

Though there are lots of rumors buzzing around about exactly what his injury is, we don't feel comfortable reporting anything else at this point.

We can say the injury is not believed to be serious. It should not keep him out very long.

If we get any updates, we will post either here or Dispatch.com -- or both.

[ace] What do you know about Saine's injury and did he make that TD run while injured?

[Tim May] It's a strain of some sort, but there were no further details. If he was hurt before that run, it sure didn't show.

Knee surgery will sideline Piqua native

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State freshman running back Brandon Saine had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Friday morning and will be out indefinitely, his mother said.

Saine, who has rushed for 153 yards (a 5.5 average) and scored three touchdowns in three games, felt discomfort during the Washington game last week, and it flared up again after Tuesday's practice, according to his mother, Wendi Croft.

"This could be something that was there a long time, and he just tweaked it a little," she said.

"(The surgery) was pretty much a precautionary thing. They thought it was better to go ahead and take care of it before it kind of gets worse."

Croft didn't reveal specifics about Saine's injury but said the family was told he could be out three weeks. The Piqua product leads the team in TDs and is second in scoring.

1 - I hope the young man is healthy and this fixed the problem. Glad they were proactive about it.

2- This is a bigger loss then I suspect most realize. The good news is if he is only to miss only 3-4 weeks that means: Northwestern,Minnesota, Purdue, and Kent State. The only place we really need him would be Purdue. Hopefully he comes back strong for PSU, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

Get well Soon!

Agree on both points. Rest it up and hopefully it will be fine...

First and foremost I hope Mr Saine is patient with the "rehab" so he fully heals and this doesn't become a recurring injury (i.e. Mo C).
It's got to be hard on a kid who looked to make the most of his opportunity.
If he doesn't come back this season it'll hurt, but so be it, his longterm health should be primary focus.
