RB Brandon "Zoom" Saine (official thread)

The coaches are going to be very selective in '07. Regardless of Stephens' connection to OSU, the staff is not going to offer a kid all the way over in Texas when they feel like they can get a kid with similar talent in their own backyard.

So do you, persoanlly, feel as though Saine is a better...or at least equal to....talent as compared to Stephens? And number two, Saine's favs growing up were ND and Mich...doesn't that scare you just a tad bit? I just hope the staff doesn't put all their eggs in one basket.

I think the staff knows its going to be difficult to get any 5-star running back in the next class with Wells and Wells already here. So, I think the staff will be extremely selective and may not even be all that dissapointed if we strike out with Saine.

There is a wealth of talent at RB in the Midwest in '07...Saine, Herron, Morgan Williams, Chaz Jones, John Clay, Dale Martin, Robert Hughes, etc. They have been in contact with all these kids, and Stephens. They certainly aren't putting all their eggs in one basket. As far as favorites go, they have to start recruiting him before they can be considered the favorites...

A writer for Scout and I were discussing which RBs we felt had the best shot at offers in '07 and I am pretty sure we were in agreement that Saine and Clay are probably the best looking RBs right now. I think everyone has been quick to hop on the Stephens to OSU bandwagon, and I just happen to think that there are some RBs in our own backyard that are just as good if not better. I am a big fan of Morgan Williams too...

What we think doesn't ultimately matter Mic... It's the coaches' opinions that matter, and they have seen fit to offer a couple of RB's before Stephens (Saine and Martin). They must have their reasons. It always works out in the end, so have some faith and sit back and watch 2007's class unfold. We will have a limited number of scholarships next year, so as 45 said, the staff will be very selective. As far as Brandon's childhood favorites, that doesn't always matter when it comes time to pick a school. I guarantee that a lot of the kids that pick tOSU don't grow up loving the Buckeyes, but they realize when the chips are on the table that there may be no better place for them to get their education and advance their football careers. Trust me when I say that if Saine has an offer this early, then he is a stud. Bank on it.

I think anybody that comes in at RB redshirts a year to gain seperation. Pittman, Chris and Mo Wells, and hopeuflly Haw gets seom more PT will be a lot to compete with. Then again, some guys are just THAT good and might overtake somebody. However, Pittman and Chris should be our #1 and 2 for two more years (unless Pitt decides to go pro).

Just because he wears the t-shirt of a loser doesn't mean he desires to join said loser.
Hmmm, Rico McCoy seemed to like the way our shirts fit as well... however he decided to waste his talents at Tennessee. Which, coincidentally(sp?) would be what Brandon would do at scUM.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, I combined them.

These are excerpts from The Top 10 Moments section of the official website of Piqua Indian football (www.piquafootball.com)

8. Brandon Saine scores 10 touchdowns in the final two games to bring his total on the season to 21. Saine also became the first Piqua running back to go over 1,000 yards rushing since Scott Foster accomplished the feat in 2000. Saine passed the mark on a 95-yard touchdown run at Sidney.

3. Brandon Saine going "inSaine" during a performance at Sidney. The junior running back took center stage during the Indians 45-6 victory over their northern rival. Saine finished the night with 181 rushing yards on 15 carries and also caught two passes for 99 yards, both of which were touchdowns. He also recorded three rushing touchdowns, one of which being a 95 yard score. The win allowed the Indians to retain the "Battered Helmet" from the Jackets for the 23rd time in the last 26 meetings.
