NFL teams didn't think much of him after two strong years... how would a dropoff in production in 08 have helped him in 1 year?

The RB draft pool is projected to be deeper next year. After Peterson & Lynch, there was no can't miss RB.

That's pretty simple. 1330 yds & 5.5 ypc is pretty tough to match with Wells stealing carries & a huge dropoff in the passing game (a heisman QB & two first round WRs gone).

Care to explain why his production would not dropoff next year?

He might get bigger. He might show off more of his receiving abilities. If the NFL just looked at stats, both him and Troy would have already been drafted.

Is it relevant? Makes more sense to enter the NFL with a degree in hand so if you don't succeed, you can enter the job market.

The cost of finishing his degree is chump change even if he flops instantly in the NFL. He'll have more than financed that second career fallback plan.

I am just stunned at some of the RB that have come off the board before AP. Tony Hunt? Garrett Wolfe? No disrespect, but Wolfe is getting drafted only on the hope that he can do in the NFL something he didn't do in college which is return punts. And Hunt, seriously is it possible NLF scouts see more in him than in AP?

I know my eyes are blinded by scarlet and grey, but damn. I have to be missing something big.

I agree, I really thought that Colts were going to take him, but they picked up Pittcock with that pick instead...
