RB Antonio Pittman (Official Thread)

At least scUM doens't know what to plan for. We seem to run a different offense from week to week. I think Pittman will get a lot of touches. This is the time for seniors to shine though...and I think Mo Hall is going to have a hell of a game! This is his chance to make an impact in a big way on Ohio State history. GO BUCKS!

Football is so god damn simple. I mean the one play on saturday when teddy was lined up against the lb. Throw the ball up smith. He has got to realize this. One of the fastest guys on your team and he is against a lb. Are you kidding me.
In fairness, Troy and Teddy were talking about that on the sidelines right after that series. Unfortunately, that was a bust by the Purdue defense and the progression on the play probably had Ted as the 3rd or 4th read.

With how the gameplans have been put together this year I would not be surprised to see Lydell be the feature back on Saturday...
ross will get atleast one carry guaranteed.

crazybuckfan40, 100% correct. there is absolutely no excuse to not see your wr is being covered by an lb. if he is the 4th read.... he should become the 1st read pretty fricken quicklike. as rob stated that is likely a bust and you only get one shot at something like that. you don't take advantage and its gone. that is what a good qb is supposed to do. find mismatches and take advantage of them.

Now that the season is almost over is there anyone standing in the way of Pittman to become the starting HB?

Well, if you were familiar our running backs, you'd know that tailbacks Lydell Ross, Maurice Hall, and Roshawn Parker, along with fullback/tailback Brandon Joe, are all seniors and thus will be gone. That leaves only Pittman and Haw as true tailbacks left (not counting 2005 recruits). So right now, the answer would be "Haw".

this makes me wonder, i have heard very little from the e-haw show. only quotes of "he could be a great player if he wanted to" "erik is having trouble..." from what i have heard has some work ethic question and from what i can tell he is having an extremely hard time picking up the offense, though i hear it has been accelerated since the offense and defense was simplified after the iowa game

I saw Haw play

I saw Haw play in the Big 33 game. He hits the pocket hard and cuts very well and plays with great intensity. No doubt we need one or two more in the backfield this coming year. It'd be nice to land a biggie.

I also saw the big 33 game and Haw is a player. The one dump pass he took to the house from 70 some yards was awesome, but got called back for holding, so he decided to do it again from about 30.

He just needed this year to learn the system as it helped pittman coming in early to learn it. Tress and Co. know what they are doing with these players and I can't wait to see our tb battle for next year. It could be awesome, we all know pittman can be good, Haw will be good IMO, and the recruits we get this year. Lets just hope we don't hit an injury bug like Iowa did or Ginn might be in the backfield. Well I guess that wouldnt be a bad thing.

Just imagine if we can land a Gwaltney & Wells, in addition to Pittman and Haw.

We have Gwaltney for power situations, but think about the other guys.

We could spread the offense out and run this type of spread:

Holmes...[----------Line---------].... Ginn
...............Haw....Smith....Wells

You could run an option either way, you have all kinds of speed to run beserk. Maybe you'd drop a FB in for one of the RB's, but its pretty easy to see how exciting our RB situation could be next year.

We would actually have somethign to look forward to when one of our running backs got hurt because we would get to see more of the RB that was on the bench (not necessarily due to lack of talent but b/c we have too many good backs).
