Ravens(-6.5) at Browns

I'd like to see a full productive season out of a player before putting him in the "top tier."

Thats what cracks me up about winslow...he is a legend in his own mind.

I was actually talking to a couple of browns fans lastnight at work who were saying they wish the team would have cut him after the bike accident.

:slappy: I've come to the conclusion that I've kicked ass in an argument with a Bengals or Steelers' fan when this gets said. It's like, "shit, he's right... better make fun of him because their prick-ass owner in '95 shipped his team out of town" as if I had the power to stop it.

We should call it "reductio ad Modellum", a la Godwin's law. Any invocation of the move means you lose the argument.

Winslow and Edwards are top tier players at their positions
Um, no.

WR

Top Tier - S Smith, M Harrison, Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, Chad Johnson, Plaxico Burress, H Ward, Randy Moss, R Wayne, T Housh., T Glenn, TO...
Second Tier (who have done more) - Deion Branch, Darryl Jackson, R Smith, Santana Moss, Keyshawn Johnson, Joe Horn, Joey Galloway, Donte Stallworth, Laveraneus Coles, Isaac Bruce...

Equally (or more) promising youngsters than Dropsies Edwards... Matt Jones, Greg Jennings, Troy Williamson, Marques Colston, Nate Burleson, J Cotchery,

Do I seriously need to list more?

TE

Unbelievably deep position (Gonzalez, Gates, Heap, Shockey, Crumpler, Witten, Watson, Cooley, McMichael, etc.)

... Kellen has great potential, but he's gotta complete at least one season before putting him in the top tier.

I meant to say "top tier" potential. Good looking out though.

Are there any other Browns' fans out there that hold their breath after KWins catches a ball, hoping that he doesn't do something stupid afterward to draw penalty? After the first penalty yesterday, I kept finding myself not getting too excited about his plays until the next snap, because you just never know with him.

Nice.

I'll never forgive Art Modell, but I'm so over the move at this point, any invocation of the move makes me laugh at the sucker bringing it up.

Wish I could have gotten the above post in sooner. Could have saved you the time. But you can't seriously believe that Cotchery, Williamson or Burleson have equal the potential of Edwards. And I do believe that Winslow is as talented, receiving-wise, and has played as well (through just 3 games mind you) as all the tight ends you named above, with the limited exception of Gates.

Other critiques:

1. I like Houshamandazahadfjka. He's one of the players that you want to hate because he plays for your rival, but you respect deeply because of the way he plays the game. But he's not top tier.

2. Santana Moss is close to being top tier. He's like a middle class Steve Smith.

3. Isaac Bruce used to be top tier, but maybe not so much anymore. Regardless, you did leave Torry Holt off of a list that included Plaxico Burress. Inexcusable.

4. Meshawn is not second tier anymore. He's barely third tier. And I'd take Braylon over him 10 times out of 10.

5. Randy Moss doesn't try hard enough to even register on any tier. Plus, with Aaron Brooks passing, he might just quit in the middle of the season after the 12th pass goes flying over his head or into the hands of the defender. (I know I'm taking far too many liberties with the Raiders. Karma's a bitch, so I'm expecting a loss next week.)

Williamson is an awfully good comparison to Braylon... they are different WRs, but similar results. They make a great play and turn around and drop a simple pass. When Braylon learns to avoid dropping passes, I'll consider moving him above 1000 yd wrs like Burleson and Williamson.

1) SMoss was listed as second tier.
2) Bruce should have been listed as 2nd tier.
3) Holt was a bad omission.
4) Meshawn is third tier? 1300 yd season? 100 yds last week, 97 & two tds this week? I hate the guy's attitude, but third tier is laughable.
5) Moss is a baby... but outside of Detriot/Oakland he'd still be an elite WR.

Braylon didn't drop any yesterday (baby steps). But that's alright, because No-hands Northcutt picked up the slack.

I was indicating that could go any number of ways on Moss and Bruce - two players that I absolutely enjoy watching play. Moss could be considered top tier, and I wouldn't complain. Age and injuries have caught up to my man Isaac though.

When did Meshawn have a 1300-yard season? I'm confused. I don't think he's seen 1000 yards since the Clinton administration. Once Steve Smith is 100%, you'll be hard-pressed to find Meshawn approaching 100 yards in another game anytime soon.

And yet I still see 30-35 Browns fans there on Sunday when going in, we all thought it could be ugly. Why? Loyalty and guarded optimism. And maybe that's funny to Bengals' fans, only because they don't know what that is.

Fans so loyal that they refused to pay for a new stadium. :slappy:

Hey, it was win win. You got rid of Modell and MOdell got this...

An appearance by Tibor? On a Browns' thread? With a picture of Modell?

That train never comes in late.

I just can't believe he has yet to mention the fans cheering when Tim Couch got injured.

Does the NFL claim that the fake browns have the real browns history? Sure do. But everyone knows that the real browns are in baltimore. I mean seriously, do you truely blame modell for wanting to move the team? He was able to win a superbowl with his team just in a different town.

History comes from the team name and players it had OVER THE YEARS. The Brown's history does not hinge on the group of players that got moved to Baltimore, nor does it hinge on any one years team. Go play ring around the rosey or something...

Do the colts history started over when they move from Baltimore to Indy? How about Tennesse? Do they actually have three histories? One as the Houston Oilers, one as the Tenn Oilers and now as the Titans? Did the Texans get to take Kansas City's History since they used to be the Texans, but now Houston is the Texans? The Rams were in Chicago at one point did they leave the history or did they get to bring it with them? What about the raiders, is part of the history left in LA? and then they have two other histories in Oakland?

I'm confused.Does this in some manner change the fact that the Browns suck?
