Rate a Position....Part 3..WR

I do think Smardzija is a product of the system. He is a good solid WR but not as great as what people say. He is definitly not an All-American type WR. As for the ND vs GT game...Johnson will show that he is proabably the best WR in the country this coming year. Smardzija may have better numbers in that game because he is on a better team with alot better QB. Johnson will still get his numbers and atleast 1 TD, that is basically given.

ND's best WR Rhema McKnight will be back this year so Smardzija may not get all the press he had last season. 2 years ago McKight was number one while Jeff was not even a starter.

I never understood the love affair with this kid. As the number 1 two years ago he didn't put up very impressive numbers. Now, given the fact he's coming off of a knee injury along with those numbers I'm just not sold.

Assuming Reggie Ball doesn't shit the bed like he does normally. :oh::io:

Best: Tyrone Prothro, Bama
Is he even playing this year? His numbers certainly haven't been anything spectacular to this point. He only accumulated 863 receiving yards for his career (2 1/2 years) before going down last year. He had a good game against Florida last year but other than that and his highlight catch last year, I can't see putting him in the top 10 WR's.

"He would love to be out there with us right now," running back Kenneth Darby said. "But he knows that it's not his time to come. He's got down on the schedule that he will be back next year and I know he'll be back." Prothro suffered a severe broken leg against Florida last season. The best thing for him might be sitting out 2006-07 and coming back 100 percent in 2007-08.

Very true...but it is another year, hopefully he has learned.

Atleast for the ND game. :wink2:

I think Samardzija(?) is worthy of the hype. He's got good hands and uses his height to his advantage. I think some people are just hating on him because he goes to ND and he doesn't run a 4.3 so he can't be good.

Best-Calvin Johnson

Overrated- Steve Breaston

Underrated-Jason Hill(WSU)
