Rashan "LLL" Gary (DL Green Bay Packers)

I'm not so sure it's over... odds still aren't great but it's been reported on one of the services that Rashan really liked tosu but that mom wasn't keen on us due to academics. If we can sell mom on the academics which from the latest update sounds like is GS angle them perhaps there's something here.

I'm sorry but how would we lose with Gary and Bosa up front? Then you add in Burrow and cooper who we also landed and that's the best dline haul I've ever witnessed.

If I'm Urban I'm selling the fact that Harbaugh will be gone before he graduates, our academics are rock solid and we will have two dline man in the first round this year. Plus GS whos better than I'd assume 90% of coaches in college is going to be here for at least 1-2 years as a coordinator

Quote from momma:
I've never met Schiano," said Coney. "(Kyle) Flood was the one who offered Rashan. I've never met him. I've only heard of him. I've heard great things about him, but Flood offered Rashan -- the first year he became coach at Rutgers, four years ago. But [Schiano and Meyer] called and we had a long talk. Schiano told me that he and Urban were best friends, so that intrigued me."

Coney and the two coaches had an in-depth conversation about what it would take to get Gary to Columbus. "He wanted to know what to sell. I said the academics. I told him about the academic presentation I had from the school, and that we weren't happy with it," Coney said. "And you don't get a second chance at an academic presentation when I know how serious academics are."

Have Urb and GS coached together before? Just curious since GS said they were "best friends."

Meyer and Schiano will work together for the first time after their friendship developed in the late '90s. Schiano was working for the Chicago Bears while Meyer was an assistant at Notre Dame.

"Schiano is one of my closest friends," Meyer told NJ.com last summer. "We were two young guys trying to figure it out. He was a secondary coach and I was a receiver and quarterback coach and we just became friends. We really became real close during the Nike years when we'd go on the Nike trips and our wives would just hang out together for a week. He's a great guy, a great friend."

Gary's mother pulls no punches and it's not difficult to read between the lines. He's going to Michigan. It's the only school they've consistently praised. It does not sound like Ohio State even has a chance to get back into it.

EDIT: By the way, I have no problem with his mother taking control of the interview process and it's silly for anybody (have not seen it here but in other places) to criticize her or Rashan for it. Parents are there to protect their children. That's her job and that's what she is doing.

I'm a parent too and where my daughter is most comfortable and happiest at is where I hope she goes. I certainly won't decide for her and to me she's over stepping for my tastes. Not to say she's wrong but I think it needs to be more Rashans decision and I'm not sure it's going to be. He may make the final decision but it'll be off the criteria she's set.
