Never was it(race as an issue) more evident of the racism in America when this past election we saw rooms with mostly white guys supporting a candidate. And a vice-presidential candidate walking a very fine line in name calling and inciting a hanging mentality.

You know what Taos? Nothing, not one damn thing, that white people or "the establishment" (and if you think it's a one-party establishment, you are kidding yourself) do, don't do, change, or don't change, is going to make the inner city gangs put the guns down. Nothing. Salvation and ruin lie within...it's up to every community and every individual to decide which they choose.

Yes! We all know that the black population is mostly gang members and drug dealers. :paranoid:

But, seriously I do believe that the black community (with a little help from the government)can provide a means of change for all black Americans. Can provide role models, like our President, as proof that the American dream is possible for all. If you don't believe it's possible than you are already beaten.
Governments can lead the way to change. People just need to believe. The change in attitude is happening right now. Not at some distant time.
What is that saying? "Either get in line or get the hell out of the way!"

Isn't that what the affirmative action provided? That worked out , don't you think? The Black community jumped all over that chance. :biggrin:
What makes you think they will do any better with a new one? I mean if Jesse Jackson and Al sharpton and Bill Cosby can't get better grades and a get out and get a job attitude then how can Obama?

BTW...where did my post mention the word "black" at all? YOU are the one who said that, not me...there are gangs of every color, in case you hadn't noticed living on whatever planet you live on.

Every major inner city has been under dominant liberal control of the local governments and councils for about 5 decades...how much has that helped Watts, Compton, South Chicago, West Phily, and Red Hook again?

When federal statistics show that 50% (just HALF!!!) of all black children born are born into a two parent household - then I'll believe that change has come and then I'll act accordingly. Until then - I'll assume the rhetoric is fueling and further entrenching an already substantial entitlement mentality and I'll protect my earnings (and family) accordingly.

why is it black/white? what about other minorities? or people from app? or blah blah blah group.
