It started as an angry blow-up, and then it escalated. A state senator with a history of anger management issues says his race-based rant was part of his fight against the "evil of white supremacy."
Brooklyn State Senator Kevin Parker is a well-documented hothead, and on Wednesday he took to the airwaves to unapologetically defend his latest shouting match.
"It's par for the course for what we have to do in Albany – fighting the forces of evil," Senator Parker said.
Parker shockingly identified the "enemies" he's fighting as other senators.
"These long-term, white supremacist, you know, Republican senators," he said.
...
"John, you are totally out of order, you are out of order," Parker shouted. "How dare you? You racist people in here."
...
There have been other temper tantrums involving the senator. Last year he was accused of felony assault after doing $1,000 in damage to the car of New York Post photographer William Lopez and smashing his camera after he snapped Parker's picture.
Two years ago, an aide filed charges against Parker, claiming he pushed her during an argument and smashed her glasses. In 2005, Parker was accused of punching a traffic agent in the face. The charges were dropped after parker agreed to take anger management classes.
Senator Parker is due in court next month on the assault case. Sources tell CBS 2 his attorney is trying to cut a no-jail deal, but the district attorney isn't buying it.
The Brooklyn district attorney would like to try the assault case this summer, before Parker has to stand for reelection in a September primary.
On Cinco de Mayo, California high school students came to school in red, white and blue, and got a very public lesson in school politics and free speech.
Around 10 a.m., the assistant principal told sophomore Matthew Dariano he had to remove his bandana, which is against school policy.
But then Dariano said the assistant principal told all him and all his friends to take off their shirts, or turn them inside out, because some Hispanic students were upset and the school feared it would start a fight.
Dariano is part Mexican.
"Our Hispanic vice principal was taking their side, and was thinking that we were being racist towards them, so he was discriminating against us, making us take off our stuff," Dariano said.
"We're not trying to start trouble," said student Austin Carvalho. "We're in America. We can't wear our own colors?"
The boys refused to take off the shirts. They were not suspended, but they were sent home.

I'm a novice at the Ann Arbor jokes - so I'll just post this and let the good times roll.

maybe it was the actions of the kids, not their shirts. i really have no idea. nim wit pricnicpal, likely. is their more to the story, ie the kids doing/saying things that were inappropriate that may or may not have been related to the shirts, who knows. What more is to know? Five kids decided to wear red, white and blue on May 5th. Some Mexican kids got upset and the hispanic principal told them to turn it inside out, when they refused, he sent them home, essentially for their own safety due to fears of a fight breaking out. Its not the offender who starts the fights. Its the offended.
The school board has acknowledged it was a mistake, and has corrected the principal.
Although i do like the one comment comparing wearing the red, white and blue on May 5th to wearing Hitler shirts. That bitch is an idiot. Of course they don't have the courage to actually post a name.
so a school field trip only for kids of a certain race. a club only allows one race. principal tells muslim kid they havent been discriminated against.Field trip for black students sparks controversy at Ann Arbor elementary school - AnnArbor.com

i like to give school admins the benefit of the doubt....If the kids were being a distraction or verbally causing a ruckus, I think that would have been the first argument the principal would have used to justify punishing them.
